5 out of 5 stars A Strong Work Horse! This Kitchenaid Pro Line Chefs Blender Is Absolutely Exceptional!   May 31, 2008

We Purchased this Kitchenaid Pro Line Chef's Blender for the main purpose of making Nut Milks. We wanted to purchase the Vita Mix because it is the most powerful blender you can buy, however the price is at least double the cost of this Chef's Blender, and at the time we really couldn't afford the Vita Mix. So we took a chance on this one because we need our blender to be a work horse. Our favorite Nut Milk is Almond Milk which requires us to use 1/2 cup Raw, Unsalted Almonds with each batch of nut milk we make. We do soak the almonds for about 8 hours before rinsing them out and adding them to the blender along with 1 cup of water, 5 Medjool Dates (Make sure you take the seeds out of the dates first), 1 Vanilla Bean (which we buy off of ebay because Vanilla Beans can be expensive) and sometimes a dash of Sea Salt and a splash of Almond Extract. Mix it up very well, then add 2 more cups of water and mix well. We personally like to chill our nut milk before drinking it, but you don't have to. With this blender it comes out really smooth so we don't have to extract any pulp like alot of people do, this way we can enjoy the full health benefits of drinking the whole mixture of nut milk. We generally always have nuts soaking for our next batch. If you want other recipes for nut milks, try most any Raw Food Cookbook, every recipe that I have found for Almond milk is different, you can change them to your own specifications also. I personally like "Ani's Raw Food Kitchen" by Ani Phyo, mainly because of her variety of nut milks and she is one of the few that doesn't extract all the pulp from her nut milk recipes. But there are many good books out there, I just find I use hers alot. Another good one for nut milks is "Raw Food Real World", by Matthew Kenney and Sarma Melngailis, if you'd rather extract the pulp, this particular book is great. In fact, Matthew Kenney has a new book out, "Everyday Raw" which is another excellent source for healthy blender drinks. At any rate, we all have our own reasons for needing a blender, if you need a strong one that is not quite as pricey as the Vita Mix but is a strong performer upon repeated use such as you would need when mixing harder nuts and other foods such as almonds then this a wonderful consideration! In Fact, we are getting ready to purchase one for our daughter and son in law as an Anniversary Gift!

5 out of 5 stars I was a Fool to buy any other Brand   March 18, 2008

I have learned my lesson. KitchenAid products from now on. First, I tossed my old mixer for the KitchenAid Classic mixer, and immediately was sorry I had not spent the money years earlier. The difference in performance is astonishing.

I finally gave in and purchased the KitchenAid Pro Line Chef's Blender. Again, remorse over not spending the extra money years ago. Whereas my old blender (some 500 watts) would struggle to crush/chop ice and frozen bananas, etc., the Kitchenaid, with it very, very powerful motor, would do the chore in under a minute, with no hint of struggle. No need to stop the blender and 'push down' with my spatula to get the ingredients to the bottom. The KitchenAid simply gets the job done the first time.

The main reason I made the purchase: to make Frozen Bananan 'ice cream'. This is a dish introduced to me by a Raw Food person (they do not eat regular ice cream). Since I am a diabetic and always dieting, I was intrigued by this healthy alternative. The recipe:

slice up a couple of bananas, and freeze overnight.
Place frozen banana's in your blender or food processor.
Add a tablespoon or two of Raw Agave syrup (get at health food store or buy from Amazon).
Add teaspoon or two of vanilla extract.
Dash of salt, if desired (I do not, my wife does).

Blend until consistency of ice cream (in the KitchenAid, takes about 30 seconds). Enjoy. We actually tossed our 'fat-free sugar-free ice cream' after tasting this.

Add more Agave if you wish (it has a very low glycemic value).
I also like to add a couple of frozen strawberries to the bananas, or peaches, etc. My wife even made pure peach ice cream, using peaches instead of bananas in the recipe.

I do recommend the KitchenAid Pro Line Chef Blender.

5 out of 5 stars WELL WORTH THE SPEND!!!!!   March 12, 2008

This has been an investment well worth every cent spent!!!!!! As soon as I got it, I started using it, and have not stopped. I'm using it everyday for smoothies and sauces. Being a cook, you want the best product, something that's not going to break down in the next month or two, so you look for the very best you can get, and this is just what I've been looking for. I started to buy something less expensive with a glass jar, but, after reading the ratings, and remembering that we had some in our class, I decided to give it a try, and I am very pleased. Crushes ice like nothing else I've seen. A little loud, but, hey!, I love it, at least I know it's working, and working well!!!!

Kitchenaid has done it again!!!! You go Kitchenaid!!!! Hey, I recommend this product to any and everyone!!! Get and enjoy it!!! :)

I was uncertain when I bought this blender but it has turned out for the best! Now I can make Jamba Smoothies just like at the store. Great purchase.

I have been trying to find a mixer that I can make smoothies with for years and now I finally found one. I make all types of smoothies and they turn out great. It cleans easily, works great, and is large enough for any recipe.
Every kitchen should have this mixer.
