5 out of 5 stars Better than advertised!   August 12, 2008

This blender is better than advertised. I researched many blenders all over the net and this blender beats them all hands down. I highly recommend this blender. Great job, Breville!

5 out of 5 stars Incredible Blender   August 10, 2008

My husband and I had given up on the idea of finding a blender worth purchasing, when we stumbled on the video review posted on this page and thought "ok .. lets give it a try". This is truly an incredible blender.

There were some negatives posted in early reviews - one of which involved how difficult the blade was to tighten after removing for cleaning. Breville solved this and the blender now includes a tightening tool.

I have to say that if you want snow made of your ice for the most incredible smoothies I can not imagine a blender made more capable then this. Smooth is the operative word here. We did not though purchase this with only dinks in mind. My husband used it to smoothen a curry base a fe days after we got it, which yielded one of the nicest homemade curries in its consistency.

We have only had this now for a couple of months so I can not speak for its durablity just yet but I can not imagine this product failing to meet up to all of its promises given its performance so far.

I believe that this blender is well worth the investment, although to be honest I had to get my head around the cost before purchasing it.

2 out of 5 stars Dead after about 20 uses.   August 3, 2008

Started off great, no leakage like other complaints I've read here, but in the middle of making a Malt the front display lights went out and the Blender was completely dead. Been used about 20 times, mostly margaritas and a couple off malts. It died during what sounded like a free spin... where there is an air pocket in the blender and the blades have essentially no resistance. Accidentally tossed my warranty info, so I'm SOL and can't comment on the Costumer service.

2 out of 5 stars Great power- not very durable   August 3, 2008

I bought this blender on Feb 26th, and it's Aug 1 and the thing is broken. We use it daily to make smoothies. At first I loved this blender, it blends quickly, and quietly, a real powerhorse, and works great on frozen berries, however after 5 months it's bitten the dust. I didn't realize that the mechanism which connects to the motor, (the spinning part) appears to simply be glued on, not sure, but that's how it appears.

I'm waiting to see what Breville customer service will do.

1 out of 5 stars Bad Blender   July 14, 2008

Like other reviewers we thought the $200 Breville blender would last a long time. The leakage problem is intolerable. I've tried to find the 'key', but have decided the problem is the ridged silicone seal. The blade mechanism loosens in action, and it doesn't seem to matter how hard it's tightened before use. Because it makes a great smoothie, we sent our first one back (after quite a service department hassle) and had high hopes it was just a lemon. The second one still leaks almost every use.
I hope we can get our money back, but I figure it's a long shot. DO NOT BUY unless you enjoy anger and frustration at 6:30 am!
