Great Blender October 24, 2008 ilanao (California, USA) This is the best blender I've ever owned. It really does the job. My old one would always leave chunks behind. The blade design is different in this blender and it really gets all the way to the edge. It is a little heavy because the base under the glass carafe does not disconnect. It also collects water in this area after being washed and takes a while to dry. However, it's still a great blender and I would recommend it!
Blender leaks October 19, 2008 Valerie J. (Virginia Beach, VA USA) Leaks__!, October 19, 2008 By Valerie A. Jones "She who reads a lot" (Virginia Beach, VA USA) - See all my reviews This is very frustrating--I wish I'd read more of the reviews here to learn that this blender leaks. We've used it almost every day for a month. Even when we think it's assembled as tight as can be, it still leaks. When re-assembling it, I've taken to blending soapy water first--if THAT leaks, it's not such a mess. If it's "safe," then I blend the smoothies. Smoothies are a lot messier to clean up. What a hassle. Not worth $200 at this point--if it didn't leak it might be, as the blending power is better than average.
Pretty, but Unreliable October 16, 2008 David C. Facer (San Diego, CA, USA) I just repackaged my second Ikon 600XL. I'm taking it back. It doesn't work reliably. Sometimes it works great. Other times it would not turn off unless I pulled the plug from the wall. The second one had a strange habit of pulsing everything, so there was no "constant on" for any of the settings. One other thing: this baby is XL tall. My cabinets are higher off the counter than in most kitchens, so check your clearance before buying this blender. I liked the glass container, the style, and the small footprint. The buttons sure were pretty. It looked as good on my counter as my KitchenAid mixer, too. But, what good is pretty when it doesn't work properly?
Great blender for the price! October 1, 2008 R. McDonough (San Francisco Peninsula) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It was between this and the much more expensive Vita-mix. Breville won. I love the glass container vs. plastic, and that this can be fully taken apart for cleaning. I routinely make nut milks with soaked almonds, and green smoothies with kale, and this powerful little machine does a beautiful job on both: nice creamy results. The ice crushing function really breaks up those tough foods (and ice, of course) for further reduction using the other functions. I didn't have any difficulty unscrewing the blade structure from the container, as others seem to have had. And I like the fact that the seal is quite tight, and doesn't leak. For all its power, it's pretty quiet: it replaced a Cuisinart blender that literally required I wear ear plugs for its operation. This is a dandy machine, and I'm very happy with it. You might be too.
Excellent Product September 19, 2008 Stanley Green (Maplewood, NJ) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
The blender is everything one could wish for in a product like this. It is very well made, beautiful to look at, and does any blending job asked of it. High tech and quality is what the unit is all about. Easy to clean.
