Perfect for a Good Cup of Coffee July 29, 2008 Living Simply (Cool, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We were looking to replace our 15-year old tried-and-true Braun, but were wary of Consumer Reports' reviews since we figured they were basing their opinion on currently-made coffee makers, and the bells and whistles with which they come. This is a good looking and lightweight (important for us as we put ours away after each use) coffee maker that brews up in just a couple of minutes. We use shade-grown organic beans we grind just before each pot and find this to make a nice dark brew. Since we never leave our coffee in the maker for long - we decant into a caterer's pump dispenser we got at a bulk food store - I can't say what it tastes like sitting on the burner for long. Yes, this does not have a bunch of buttons for timers and all, which is what we look for in appliances since they tend to be the first thing that causes appliances no longer to work. If you prepare the coffee maker the night before, all you have to do when you get up in the a.m. is plug it in and go take a shower first. Since it's a Braun, we're looking forward to it taking us well into our retirement years (our first one brought us through our kids' childhood years)!
Some really good coffee... July 23, 2008 A. Whitehead (quiet corner, CT) I had to buy this particular coffee maker because my old Braun finally broke down. Unfortunately they no longer make that model anymore, so I went with this one. I didn't want any frills, just a good cup of coffee and this definitely delivers. I've tried other more expensive brand coffee makers, with the buttons and really cool looks, but they don't even compare to a Braun.
Very Disappointing July 19, 2008 D. Batten (El Paso, TX USA) I purchased this model to replace an 8 year old version that finally died. The new model is cheaply built and the coffee is just passable. The plastic is thin and the basket closure does not seal tightly as with the older models. In order to get a decent cup of coffee, you need to use the gold filter basket AND put a paper filter into the machine. This is due to the water (which only comes out of one opening over the grounds) being pumped out too quickly. I do like a fast cup of coffee, but I've gone back to boiling water and pouring it over grounds in a strainer to get the flavor and body that I'm used to. Save your money and go with another brand.
Lovely machine! July 14, 2008 Amy Q. Have no complaints. Delivery was quick and efficient, this coffeemaker makes delicious coffee with no fuss, and is easy to clean and put away. Top of the line at a very fair price.
Braun KF510 July 12, 2008 Tom (Beavercreek, OH USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We had an older Braun 12 cup coffee maker that we loved but it gave out after 14 to 15 years of constant coffee making. We had tried several other coffee brands prior to purchasing the Braun and were not satisfied with any of them. Since the old Braun did such a great job, I almost felt obligated to buy another Braun. We wanted something simple since we never used the automatic feature and we already have three clocks in the kitchen so we didn't need another time display. I was a little leery of the Braun KF 510 since it was so inexpensive and someone had mentioned that the carafe drips when pouring the coffee. Not only does the KF 510 brew excellent coffee, keeps the coffee hot and the carafe pours without any drips whatsoever. Bottom-line, KF 510 is one of the best buys for the money.
