4 out of 5 stars TEA KETTLE   March 30, 2008

WHAT CAN I SAY ITS A TEA KETTLE. SURE BOILS WATER QUICK AND EASY TO POUR

2 out of 5 stars Cheap, poor quality   March 27, 2008

Got mine today, and have tested it out. Verdict is not too good:

Pros:
- It does boil water...

Cons:
- Cheaply constructed- the steel is ridiculously thin, the handle is lightweight, and the cap/whistle is clumsy.

- Whistle lever is not ergonomic- it's a pretty unnatural position for your finger to move it up and down.

- Had cheap packing tape on it to keep the lid on that left glue remnants on the pot, requiring goo gone to remove

- Lid is much smaller than an adult hand- so don't expect to clean the inside with a sponge.

- Whistle sounds like a bottle rocket. As it escalates, the sound turns into just a loud rush of steam instead of a whistle (not easy to hear from a distance)

- The whistle pumps steam out at an incredible rate/distance! When I walked back into the kitchen, to my amazement I could see the steam firing out of the whistle right into the underside of my kitchen cabinet. I've never seen another tea kettle do this.

Overall, I would definitely not recommend this tea kettle. Like I said, it does boil water, but it is not a quality kettle by any stretch, and I'm starting to wonder if it could be a fire hazard.

5 out of 5 stars My Perfect Teakettle   March 20, 2008

My household drinks cups of tea daily, so we needed a dependable, easy-to-clean, handsome teakettle. We love our Tiburon! We've owned it for 4 months.

It has kept its nice shine with just dishsoap and water. The teakettle heats water quickly with a pleasant whistle - starts out with some light whistling and gradually progresses to loud (but not shrill) whistle; generally it gives enough warning that I can get it off the heat before it wakes the baby. I like the snap-up whistler on the spout, although I usually open it first before pouring to reduce the stress on what is an oft-used spring (but I'm probably being over-cautious; it doesn't FEEL flimsy).

Compared to other teakettles we've owned, this one is the best!

5 out of 5 stars wonderful kettle   February 25, 2008

I was really attached to my old kettle. So I wasn't sure about ordering one online. I didn't want one that was too big, or too heavy. Reading the comments about this one sold me. First, one of the reviewers suggested that you open the sprout BEFORE you pick up the kettle and pour. This is a must! I can't imagine opening it once you've picked it up. That's the only trick to using this kettle.

One of the reviewers complained about stuff floating inside the kettle. Well, clean it before you use it the first time. The whistle is loud but not jarring. That's particularly important, if like me, you're boiling water to down cups and cups of tea to wash out a nasty head cold.

3 out of 5 stars Good tea kettle....   February 1, 2008

This is a good tea kettle, well made and dependable. The only reason I don't give it five stars is that the whistle is too loud, hurts my ears and scares the cat to death. But if you have a large house or are hard of hearing and don't have pets that get spooked by loud noises, this is a great tea kettle.
