No Whistle September 20, 2008 Nutterbutter (Washington, dc) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Call me demanding, but a product with a huge written "whistling kettle" stamped on it should maybe whistle - it doesn't.
How can something so good be so inexpensive? September 19, 2008 unreconstructedrebel (Glendale CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Medelco 12 Cup Glass Stovetop Whistling Tea Kettle I've been looking for a tea kettle (coffee kettle?) to get the morning coffee brewing....and all I could find was the usual stainless steel one where you couldn't see all the crud that's building up. Then...in a flash...there it was....a great looking glass one....that whistled so my water woudln't boil out while I was doing something else....and it was under ten bucks! holy moley! It's everything I wanted without spending a fortune up in the William Sonoma bracket. Great product.
Much better then metal tea kettles September 6, 2008 Dom (RTP) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Not only does it taste cleaner, but there aren't really any moving parts to break. I've had 3 metal tea kettles from different manufacturers and various parts have always broken within 6 months. I have a feeling this one will last awhile. The handle does get rather warm(but not hot). It would have been nicer if the metal cooking ring was shipped on the outside of the glass container as I felt I make break the glass getting it out.
For What It Is, It's a Good Little Tea Kettle August 28, 2008 A. D. Mitchell (Alameda, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
You get what you pay, OK this kettle is not the greatest quality tea kettle you are ever liable to buy, the handle does get a bit hot, that's what pot holders are for - get over it. It does seem a bit flimsy, if it last 6 months I'll be amazed, but for $7.99 I'll just keep buying more. After throwing away a ton of $50 - $60 tea kettles, because no matter how well I take care of them after about a year they all start to rust, flake or get a bunch gunk built up inside, so I figured I would go the cheap route, first I bought a piece of junk at the local Mega Mart, the first pot of tea was so foul I was going to return it, but figured it would cost more in gas to get back to the store than I would actually get back, so I pitched it in to the recycle bin after just one use. Then I found this little gem of a kettle and figured what the heck I'll give it a try, I am quite happy with it, the glass does not impart any flavor in the water and it's made of real borosilicate glass, not that cheap tempered glass the more famous kitchen glassware makers are passing off as the real thing. Buy 2 because it is going to break, but who cares - They're Cheap
Love this tea kettle August 24, 2008 Silver Flutist (Atlanta, Georgia) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this tea kettle. The glass is strong, and it has the cutest little whistle when the water is boiling. I drink a lot of green teas that require less than boiling water, so this allows me to see when the water is close to boiling.
