5 out of 5 stars I really couldn't be much happier. . . :)   June 29, 2008

Before I tried coffee brewed using a french press, I had no idea that it could be strong yet not bitter. Who knew?! I thought only coffee shops had that magic power. A friend and fellow coffee addict turned me onto the press idea and I figured I'd try ordering this Bodum off Amazon because it came well-rated (and was the same price as WalMart's generic brand press.) I honestly cannot be happier. It produces a FABULOUS pot of coffee and the tiny bit of extra effort w/ grinding my own beans, heating the water, & hand-washing is definitely well worth it.

I was wary at first of the faulty manufacturing & glass beaker warnings of other reviewers, but I've used it at least a dozen times since I purchased it and have had no problems whatsoever. I don't put mine in the dishwasher though. It seems sturdy and well-constructed in my opinion. . . . and I like the design. that's always a plus.

The only thing I wished I'd known before I bought it, or at least before I used it. I was using the 8oz=1cup measurement and didn't realize that didn't apply to this. Could've been helped by reading. To any who are a bit confused by the oz/cup ratios, this comfortably holds about 16 oz or 2 cups of water (plus the coffee grounds.) But it's perfect for me as long as I'm not brewing for guests too.

Bottom line: I'm very pleased (and glad I didn't shell out twice as much for one of the more expensive Bodum models. :) )

5 out of 5 stars Better than Starbucks   June 27, 2008

If you like coffee straight and strong, a French Press is the only way to make it. French Ppress coffee is never bitter. It is impossible to burn coffee in a French Press. You can make it too weak but it's almost impossible to make too strong. What's great about this Bodum Coffee Press is that it's all plastic. So you just fill it with water, microwave it for 6 to 6 1/2 minutes or until the water boils, put three heaping table spoons of coffee in it. Stir it. Let it sit for a couple of minutes. Plunge and drink. Best coffee you'll ever taste.

5 out of 5 stars Great French Press   June 5, 2008

Very attractive and very functional. I keep it out all the time and use it quite often. It works really well and the extra outside covering makes it less apt to break. It has a good seal and the coffee of course tastes wonderful made from a French press. Great deal!

5 out of 5 stars The ONLY way to make coffee   June 3, 2008

Friends love my coffee. I don't buy Folgers and I take the time to make it in a French press. This is by far the best way to make a cup of coffee. I bought this unit as a replacement for the carafe that I dropped. Strangely the carafe is more expensive than buying a new press. It takes about 10 minutes to turn out a "pot" of coffee which is about 30 ounces. Five for boiling and five for standing.

Newcomers to presses: Don't drink the last sip!!!

Disassembles for easy clean-up. Super simple to use! Was much lower in price than in local stores too.
