Use caution November 18, 2007 Barbara J. Halcott (New York state, USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Krups Universal Panini grill with slide locking unit is not a secure lock. I picked it up by the handle and it was not completely locked. It sprung open and snaped off the two very small raised edges on the back corners that keep the lid at a 90 degree open position to allow you to put a sandwich on the grill. It is a white metal and is not fixable. This is an expensive unit to be so easily broken. So use caution when handling this unit. As a Panini Grill, it works well. The plates are not removable though. I would not buy another without removable plates.
Krups Panini Maker September 9, 2007 R. Gault The price is right and the machine does the job right. You could spend more, but your results would not be better.
Loved it until... August 5, 2007 laurel (atlanta, ga) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We also LOVED our Krups panini maker, until, less than a year after purchase, the hinge at the back broke, meaning the lid flipped open the whole way when you opened it. We got another under warranty, but now, less than two years later, that one suddenly stopped working, too. Very disappointing for a product in this price range. We used ours about twice a week.
Cooks well but clumsy to clean July 14, 2007 BillH (DeForest, WI USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The Krups FDE312-75 sandwich grill heats up quickly and cooks very evenly. Cleaning is another matter. The cord is not detachable and the grill is not water proof, so washing it by hand in the sink isn't recommended. You're left with wiping the non-stick surfaces with soapy water, rinsing and drying as best you can on the counter top. The FDE312-75 is fairly easy to store when not in use. It can stand vertically on its rear edge as the two grill halves lock together. The cord stores in a recess on the underside.
Don't like it June 30, 2007 SWASTEW (Texan in Florida) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Sending it back. No drip spout so your bacon, etc. sits in the grease. This was the main reason I wanted a Panini grill in the first place. If you don't need the grease to drain (sandwiches, etc) it's probably nice.
