Too small and shallow April 15, 2008 G. Salgia (Detroit) The product is great. I agree to most of the positive reviews. Just that its too small and shallow. I thought I would be able to cook indian vegetables for two in this skillet. Unfortunately, the contents would splash and spill out of this cookware. Someone mentioned that the inside of the 8' skillet is only 6.5' -- and I totally agree to that.
Good skillet for the money April 13, 2008 C. Wiener (Boston, MA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First off, anyone who is whining about it not being "non-stick" needs to understand that this isn't a teflon pan -- it's stainless steel and needs to be treated like it. You have to use some sort of oil during cooking, be it butter, olive oil, canola, etc. and let it get pretty warm before adding your food. It's disappointing that the aluminum core doesn't extend further up from the base, but at this price you can't expect it to. It distributes heat great, and has cooked everything to perfection. Highly recommended, one star penalty for not having the aluminum extend further.
I've been had April 8, 2008 Renu 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ahhh! I think I've been had. Bought this on eBay and it burns easily. Does not wash easily either. I switched to good quality stainless steel pans some years ago and have been phasing out my non-stick pans. I found that it is really important to purchase only high quality stainless steel and Cuisinart Classic is at the bottom end of that class. I have several good Cuisinart pans but this one is not of the same quality. It developed a discoloration on the edges at the first use that won't scrub off. Each time I fry an egg, I have to scrub long and hard to get it clean. I use a plastic, non-scratch scrubber. This was not a good purchase.
Good product March 31, 2008 S. Roy (Boston, MA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It does require low heat to get hot. Also leaves those messy hard to get out oil marks- I really have to scrub at it (with a mild scrubber ofcourse). But considering that it is stainless steel and I am not feeding on teflon and vinyl coating particles this is great. It does help to let it soak on for sometime before cleaning and definitely not a dishwasher material.
Wears down easily over time. January 23, 2008 NexoidGirl (Brooklyn, NY USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had this skillet for a little over a year. I have a gas stove, and I always cook on low to medium heats using a cooking spray like Pam, or olive oil. My roommate used it on high heat ONCE and it burned. Now the surface is not the same as it was when it was new, and pretty much everything sticks to it and burns, even on low heat with lots and lots of oil. So just be careful not to use high heat and you should be okay, but I think it was a little drastic for the pan to be totally ruined after one use of high heat.
