Surprised by all the negative reviews! November 5, 2008 Noelle (Willow Glen, CA) I've been using this cuisinart for three years and I'm very surprised by all the negative reviews. I've been really happy with it. It grinds my beans, makes a good cup of coffee, and keeps my coffee hot. Yes it does have some downsides: you have to clean it with every use (would you really expect that you wouldn't? Just stick the pieces in the dishwasher); you can't see how much coffee in the carafe (its thermal); the grind isn't perfect (a bur grinder does a better job but will cost much, much more); it pours slowly (a trade-off I don't mind because my coffee stays hot); you have to tilt it far to pour (again, I don't mind because I like the hot coffee). The only time I've experienced the coffee explosion others have mentioned is when I have put the pieces in place incorrectly (usually when still half asleep). But it is really not as complicated as other reviewers have made it sound - in three years I've made that mistake once or twice. Overall it does its job well and I would buy it again.

I cannot stand this coffee maker. The cleanup is very involved. Some areas that need daily cleaning are completely inaccessable . Using pre ground coffee it seems to not allow the coffee enough time to go thru the filter . This results in the grinds and hot water pooling till overflow then spilling internally over many fused plastic parts. You cannot even clean them because they cannot be removed. And yes this muck drips over the caraffe and onto the burner and starts to burn. Unbelieveable. Even though you may not use the grinder you still have to break it down and clean the condensate out of it . Very poor. This product is junk. If you dont believe me buy one and see for yourself.
OK but not great October 31, 2008 Gina Stanyer (Seattle, WA USA) The Grind and Brew coffee maker is not horrible, but it is not good. I have been using mine for about two years, so it is relatively sturdy and has held up well to daily use. The convenience of the built in grinder is nice, however the drawbacks outweigh any benefits the automated feature may give you. 1- The grind is TERRIBLE. There are fine grounds, as well as whole beans left in the grinder. 2- Because there are always a lot of grounds as well as whole beans left in the grinder, they get moist from the steam of the coffee brewing which makes the grinder difficult to clean. 3- The grinder needs to be cleaned after every use. 4- Because of the unevenness of the grind the coffee doesn't really taste that great. It's not terrible, but it is not a lovely fresh robust cup of coffee that you get from a nice evenly ground bean. This is the biggest drawback. I could deal with the daily cleaning if the coffee was excellent. 5- I'm not sure why, but recently my coffee pot has been 'exploding'. The coffee goes everywhere but into the pot while it is brewing. Because of this, I will probably replace this machine soon with a burr grinder and separate brewer. I do love to buy whole beans. I was hoping that this machine would be convenient and brew tasty coffee, but unfortunately that is not the case. I have continued to use it because it works OK and I am too frugal to replace a working product, but I would never buy this machine again.
Coffee Addict Loves Machine October 29, 2008 Sybil Erden (Southern Arizona) I have had the Cuisinart DGB-600BC for over two years and love it. My number one reason for loving this machine is that I can make coffee in the morning and come home for lunch and it is still hot and tasty. I have had other grind-and-brew machines and still have another at my office....but this one is my favorite. I have set aside one of the Cuisinart 500 series for when either the one at home or the at the office finally do pass on into coffee-heaven... They make great machines!
Cuisinart Grind & Brew October 27, 2008 M. M. Federici My requirements for a replacement coffer pot were pretty specific. It had to be able to grind the beans, accommodate a particular space, and blend with the "look" of my other small appliances. The Cuisinart DGB-600BC had all the features I was looking for. The price is reasonable ... and the coffee tastes great!!
