5 out of 5 stars Cry no more   June 17, 2008

Works great for small jobs including powdering some spices. I also flip the blade over and shred onions with it. If you fill it up too full it will not work well. Remember this is not the full-size model. It is also very easy to clean up. no hard to clean nooks and crannies.

5 out of 5 stars mini-prep   May 26, 2008

I purchased this item because the one I currently owned had a cracked plastic ring where the blade connected. I originally went on-line to purchase just the replacement part. However, it was only $5 more to buy all brand-new. My original mini-prep was more than 12 years old and served my kitchen needs well (chopping nuts and blending dressings mostly) and I expect the same service from the new one.

This is okay for chopping cilantro, but does not puree very well. I my mind it does not live up to the Cuisinart name. Much prefer my old Sunbeam Oskar.

1 out of 5 stars finger-slicing death trap   January 22, 2008

The blade mechanism on this chopper is extremely difficult to remove or adjust. I have very small fingers, and there is still barely enough room between the two blades for me to press on the plastic ring to remove it. I can't imagine how someone with large fingers would manage. My husband and I both sliced our fingers numerous times the first time we assembled this and tried to change the blade position, so I read the manual to see if we were doing it wrong. Well, the diagram in the manual doesn't correspond to the actual machine, so it's useless.
On top of the danger, it doesn't even do that good of a job chopping. There's nothing I can do in this thing that I can't do better and more easily with my hand-held blender. Save your money AND your fingers! Steer clear of this thing!

I wish I hadn't thrown away my old chopper when I got this one. It is a perfect size, but the chopping leaves much to be desired. It leaves a combination of huge chunks and liquid mush when chopping onions. I will play with it some more and see if I can figure out a way to make it consistent.
