4 out of 5 stars Excellent product!   July 4, 2008

The grinder attachment works perfectly every time. For raw meat I grind it twice and the texture comes out just right. I suggest grinding the meat when it's half-defrosted as I noticed the meat gets stuck easily when it is completely defrosted or fresh.

Like other reviewers have suggested, try to keep the job done in 15 minutes as the motor in the mixer can get really warm and feels like it's about to burn out...! I would even suggest 10 minutes at a time as I don't want to overworked my mixer and end up paying big $$$ for the repair!! And I also suggest getting the optional "plate" for a larger work area on top, perfect for grinding the meat the second time without having to scoop-press-scoop-press...

Cleanup is easy with a dishwasher, or handwash with a brush. Just use extra dishwashing liquid as the plastic can get greasy! Overall I'm satisfied with my purchase.

5 out of 5 stars grinder   June 20, 2008

I like this product, with one exception. The plastic pusher should be made of wood, it seems a little on the flimsy side being made from plastic.

1 out of 5 stars Great Accessory For Killing Your KitchenAid Mixer!!! Walk Away From This Piece of Junk!!!!!!!!!   June 15, 2008

If you want to kill or ruin your K'Aid Mixer, then this accessory is the perfect one to do it!!

I bought this piece of junk last year and thought; "Oh, goody!!! Now I got a food grinder for my K'Aid mixers." Boy, was I wrong!!! This unit is just a worthless piece of junk that should be left right where you see it; on the store shaelves!!!

I went to use this for the very first time, and it made my K-5SS Stand Mixer's motor start to labor badly - amost to the point where it was about to stop working and die altogether!!

Liquid had leaked into the transmission and messed up the gears badly!! I was almost faced with a $125.00 repair bill!!! I had to finish the job with this unit attached to the smaller K-45SS.

But luckily, the mixer began to rebound in the days ahead and has mended itself back up to full operating speed!! It works fine now. But as a precaution, I sent this ill-fated piece of junk back to where I bought it from!!

I've since bought a separate electric food grinder, which works beautifully!! Do yourself a favor. leave this in the stores!! Also, it's shown with a wooden pusher. That it false advertising because, ;like the rest of the unit, the pusher is plastic now, had been for a long while!!!

Don't buy this. It's and ill-fated piece of junk!!!!!!!!!

4 out of 5 stars Works ok, but take it easy!   June 1, 2008

As some others have indicated, these KitchenAid blender attachments are more or less novelties... not made to the same "industrial" standards as the blenders themselves... but still functional. I bought one despite all the warnings, and I'm glad I did. If you follow the directions and don't overload it, it does a decent job. I've used it to make ham and turkey salad, and on leftover chicken breasts for Quesadillas. If you take your time and you only need to prepare enough for a meal, I don't think you will be disappointed. Just don't plan on grinding a whole deer for venison sausage.

3 out of 5 stars Meat Grinder   May 30, 2008

For what I wanted this meat grinder for, it did not work at all. It's too small and just to weak. The meat I was grinding backed up and hopelessly overheated my kitchenaid machine.
Maybe it would work well for lean soft meats.
