5 out of 5 stars Awesome Stand Mixer   August 24, 2007

I never thought I would ever own a stand mixer in my lifetime. They always seemed so bulky and heavy to have in a kitchen, figured my hand mixer was good enough. Well after doing a lot of research, I went with the DeLonghi Stand Mixer and am so pleased with my decision. Very powerful and mixes very well, didn't have to scrape the bowl it mixed up everything. Also love the sleek design and is not very bulky like the KitchenAid stand mixer. Highly recommend this mixer!

Being a sceptic I was concerned about purchases on line. Everything went just fine. We received it promptly and we love the mixer.

After researching mixers on line for about 2 months, I found this one to be the best for your money. Too many reviews against Kitchen Aid got me looking. I went through Amazon because they had free shipping, the lowest price and where listed as a dealer on the Delonghi website. Plus, I signed up for the Amazon credit card and got $10 off plus another $20 for Christmas.

My wife does your "average" baking and it is perfect for her. A little louder than I thought (about as loud as a power drill), but mixer is powerful. The attachments work great (no special nuts needed to adjust them) and the controls and tuck away cord are easy to use. It is heavy and solid. It does not "walk away" when running. My wife likes the multi ports for extra attachments (great future xmas gifts for her). The handle on the bowl makes moving it around easy. The style is modern and goes well in our kitchen. Too bad they don't have color options. I (my wife) knows no negatives yet. If some come up, we will post them.

Shop around. With the discounts I got, I bought the Amazon 2 yr service warranty (the mixer has a 10yr warranty on the motor) and it was still cheaper than Kitchen Aid, and a better value (grand total $290.00). My alternate mixer was a Viking. The nice thing about the Viking is that it has back wheels for easy moving. If Delonghi had some it would be the perfect machine.

This is a great appliance for the serious cook. It handles large amounts without bogging down, and isn't too loud. The splashguard keeps flour from flying out, and the top raises making it easier to scrape the sides of the bowl without having to remove the bowl from the base. It is low so I can raise the top without it hitting the cabinets above - the tradeoff for that is that it is much longer than other mixers. I put it diagonally in the corner of my counter and it doesn't take up as much counterspace there. I had trouble at first figuring out how to raise the top. You have to push down on the top while turning the release. It would have saved me some time if they had explained that in the instructions. I also like that the cord can be pushed back inside the base, eliminating counter clutter. I'm impressed with the 10-year warranty on the motor - the only mixer I could find with that kind of warranty. (Make sure the mixer is purchased from an approved distributor or the company won't honor the warranty.) I'm looking forward to purchasing some of the attachments next.
