Junk Fryer May 14, 2007 Mr. Richard W. Johns (San Jose, CA United States) This is a terrible excuse for a deep fryer. Recovery time after immersion is a joke. Its AOK if you are trying to fry about ten { small} pieces of potato. Try a fresh egg roll and see how slowly this thing recovers. Think grease is tasty?? That's what this fryer gives you. The temperature gauge was 20 degrees off in the wrong direction. It is however a great item to heat oil up to transfer to a real stovetop deep frying setup. The drain feature works just great to get the old oil out - which I used it for before discarding the entire unit. It works great if you intend to make a couple of french fries at a time and produces consistently greasy crab cakes, oily bolhinos and grease saturated french fries each and every time. Yes - I read and understood the directions. Jesus H... why can't anybody make products that work anymore??? Safety garbage to save morons from themselves has screwed up yet another product. This product was definitely NOT worth the money. A Pan on the stove is still the best bet.
Worthless product May 12, 2007 Dutchmaster (Miami, FL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this deep fryer since it looked fancy with the digital display and for the price I paid I thought it would be a decent piece of kitchen equipment. Until I tried it. This deep fryer does everything but frying decent food. The digital display tells you exactly what the oil temperature is: it heats up to a nice 374 F and gives you a green light when it is ready. The problem is, when you put your french fries in it, the temperature doesn't make it above 280 F, with the result that your fries are dark brown on the outside, and not even half way cooked on the inside. I give the performance an absolute 0 to what I'm used to. The second problem is the very poor design: everything is loose and ready to fall apart. If you're not carefull taking out the basket, chances are the whole control unit comes out with it. The lid has no hinges and is loose, plus there is no picture with the basket in it. When the basket is in the fryer, the handle sticks out, and the slightest touch to the handle will throw off the entire lid. But, the best thing is the filter. They advertise it with a "built in permanent filter which traps all odors", even the box says it. What a joke. Are you ready for this: the filter is built in, but consists of nothing more than a piece of steel wool trapped in between the two layers of the lid. You have no problem looking at your fries trough the filter. And of course, it filters nothing. I had to move this fryer from the spot where I had my old one to the stove top and turn the exhaust fan on max, but it still wasn't enough. The stove top got wet and all the cabinets around it started dripping. NICE! Or better said: this fryer is a peace of junk. Don't waste your money on it. I used to have the Rival Cool Touch as described below, and that one lasted for almost three years and did a perfect job. For less than half the price! Keep that in mind, and hopefully this was helpfull to you, because my Delonghi fryer has one destination, and that's the garbage container... Absolutely LOVE it! May 6, 2007 Wendy A (Milwaukee, WI United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is my 4th deep fryer over the years and this one is absolutely my FAVORITE! It is sooooo easy to clean especially with the drain spout at the bottom of the front. My parents bought one first and since they loved it so much, I decided to replace my other fryer with it. The cost was perfect from Amazon. The only caution that I would want to point out is that the MAX food line truly is the MAX! If you put too much food in, it will boil over. (I came close, luckily I didn't have a disaster.) This fryer is a great product for a reasonable price.
Amortize it quickly, it failed after 2 uses. April 21, 2007 J. Wildman (Dallas, TX United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was given the fryer as Christmas gift. We used it twice - worked perfectly, great features - pretty idotic proof in being able to set time and temp. Third try, the LED on the control unit started flashing random numers, letters and symbols. The reset never functioned @ all, heating element failed - essentially a total meltdown. Called DeLonghi, they requested I send the unit to a service center in New Mexico which I did. A month later, no unit, no response from service center.
Best Lil Deep Fryer April 3, 2007 S L Harmon (Glastonbury, CT.) I have waited a long time to buy one ... not sure why. I was going to go with a T-Fal product. Glad I didn't. Got this one home and waited awhile before I actually used it. Then I deep fried chicken patties and french fries. What a dinner we had. It was gr8!! The frier heated up quickly ... made the food fast ... did everything I wanted it to. It has continued to work as expected ever since I picked it up. Even easy clean up. Nice!
