can't leave well enough alone August 29, 2005 Dan Endres (AK, USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I can't leave well enough alone so I cut the handle off my mug, cleaned up the edge, machined a steel caribiner flat and silver soldered it on. I also covered it with safety orange reflective tape and I can always find my mug. No one else would want it. It's been great for almost 10 years now. As for the problem of the drinking lid becoming a dribble cup, I took the o-ring out of the lid and noticed one side is flat and the other is curved. The curved side is normally out but I found that if I flipped it over so the flat side is out it quit leaking.
A very expensive dribble glass July 19, 2005 DoctorMom (Long Island, NY USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this mug about three weeks ago, despite the reviews I'd read which mentioned that it leaked. I decided to buy it anyway, because of the size and that every review mentioned how it kept cofee and food hot or cold, as desired. The latter is true: I used it every morning and on my 45 minute commute, the coffee stayed as hot as if I had just poured it. It also did not fit well in my car cup holder, a complaint I had also read in other reviews. The reason I will no longer be using this mug for coffee is because on two different mornings I arrived at work with large brown coffee stains on my white shirt! Embarrassing to go out in public like that, and really inconvenient to return home to change clothes. I would hope that someone at Nissan is reading these reviews and will change the apparent design flaws in this otherwise great mug. I'm only going to be using it for baby food from now on.
Replacement Lids November 20, 2004 L. Smith 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
My wife and I have had a pair of the JMF-500 mugs for several years and like many others the sipper lids eventually began dribbling. Last weekend I became fed-up with the dribbling and went online to find a customer service number for Thermos Nissan (1-800-831-0745). I ordered two replacement sipper lids for $8.00 shipped and this weekend I'm sitting here sipping from the new lid with no more dribbling. SWEET!
Lasted longer than my marriage June 26, 2004 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
Noticed this mug while searching online for a French press/travel mug. My wife (soon to be ex-wife) and I bought a pair of these about 14 years ago. Used almost every day, they have performed flawlessly. This is a true vacuumed sealed unit and keeps coffee hot and drinkable about 4 hours with the drinking lid, longer if you use the full cover lid. Mine has been dropped numerous times over the years and has survived well. In all this time, there are only two drawbacks I can think of. It's diameter, although very stable, it won't fit cup holders in many vehicles. And, if run through the dishwasher, a small amount water will sneak through the little hole in the bottom cover. Not a big deal, but it can dribble out on you while dinking (it can be removed to dry off). Unlike my wife, this travel mug has remained true to me all these years.
great cup but watch out for the leaks April 17, 2004 Warren Slack (Victoria, B.C.) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I drive truck for a living and was always buying coffee in a paper cup. I found I always got heartburn as I had to drink it so fast to enjoy it hot. Then I found this mug. It keeps it warm up to 6 hours. Great... no more heartburn. I ended up buying one for my wife, and my boss bought one for himself and his wife. The only problem is, that as the cup gets older, the seal starts to leak. My first cup is in the cupboard it leaks so bad and I now use my wife's cup. Lately it has started to leak also. I wish you could buy replacement seals.
