Good, but... September 17, 2008 NMN 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Rowenta IB-6200 Professional Ironing Board is head and shoulders above my old, bendy, rickety cheapo. It's sturdy and seems like it will last. However, before you buy, give serious thought to the dimensions. In theory, I like the idea of a larger board. But the Rowenta takes up more space in my closet (doesn't fit below the shelf) than a standard board. And I iron only size 4-6 women's clothing, so I don't feel that having the extra inches of board on which to iron really matters. It's also pretty heavy, which I can imagine would be a problem for some users.
Great product! August 31, 2008 GymRat 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This ironing board is great. The metal iron holder at end provides extra length so now I can iron long pants legs without moving them. Also the extra width is wonderful. Again, an entire pants leg can be laid out and ironed without moving it several times. The board is very sturdy and does not wobble, so it is heavier than normal making it a bit harder to open and close.
Sturdy, but large and heavy August 13, 2008 H. Young 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is an excellent ironing board for someone who leaves the board up all the time, but for those who would store it between uses, I found it cumbersome. In fact, the height of the folded board (and attached iron stand) was such that the board would not fit in my cleaning closet. I did not measure it, and can only say that the folded height exceeded 64". I also found that the board was somewhat uncomfortably heavy to lift, although this feature contributed to its stability when in use. I ended by trading ironing boards with my daughter, who irons in basement and who gave me a small lightweight board in exchange.
Great ironing board, but does have a problem August 2, 2008 msews (USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I love this ironing board, having previously used the old, cheap, tippy ones. It's nice to be able to rest the iron off the ironing surface itself and I love the wider size. I use the clothes rack to put my waste basket on at an angle to make it easier to toss scraps in when I'm cutting and sewing. The only problem I've had is with the quality of construction. The first one I got had some places where the welding on the surface between the top of it and the supports created really bothersome hills and valleys on the ironing surface. They weren't readily apparent until I began to iron. I returned that and got another that I had them open to let me check over carefully before exchanging. There still is a place on the second one where the construction has a oval "divet", but it's not as bad as the rolling hills on the first one. When I got this one, I checked the others at the store and they all had similar, but worse flaws. I mentioned it to the Rowenta folks at the Pywallup Expo and was told just to return it. I could have, but the ones at the store were worse and I have a lot better things to do with my time than continue to return ironing boards. It's unfortunate that Rowenta doesn't do better in their quality control department, since their basic product is so good. Yes, it is heavy, and I also have arthritis, but I've had more than enough of the light ones that turn over at the touch of a finger. It's still worth buying, especially with a store discount coupon, but be sure to have them allow you to open the plastic and feel the entire ironing surface to be sure it's actually flat.
This ironing board is for a younger person July 30, 2008 J. Davis (Hillsboro, OR) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a high quality ironing board but unless you have sufficient hand strength to adjust the height it is difficult to overcome the strong springs that facilitate the height adjustment. This board also weighs in around 20 pounds which is much too heavy for older people to handle easily. I'm sending it back for a lighter duty ironing board.
