4 out of 5 stars Heat Alternative   September 9, 2008

I recently bought two of these because of the price of home heating oil in the Northeast. Although I haven't had occasion to use them for heating, YET, I did run them to burn off the protectant so there would be no smell when I did finally use them inside. The functions and operation are clear and straight forward. The units occupy a small space and the timer functions well, making it easy to turn the unit on and off automatically. The wheels and fairly light weight (27 lbs) make them easy to move room to room. The only real complaint I have is the power cord. It is only six feet long and is connected to the front bottom of the unit. This makes it difficult to position the heater because of the way walls and furniture are arranged in my home. But facing possibly $5000 in oil bills this winter, I'm looking forward to spending just a few hundred in electricity instead to keep my household at least tepid instead of freezing.

This heater is one of their best. We live in an old house with high ceilings. This heats of the whole room in no time. The burn off smell was not as bad as previous owned oil filled heaters. This was a big plus as well. Be sure to follow the instructions. If you are not using the timer make sure you turn the unit off and unplug it .To avoid burning out the timer mechanism which will cause the unit to fail.

4 out of 5 stars Nice, safe, efficent heater.   July 9, 2008

Easy to use. Good output of heat without dangerous electrical elements. Economical because there's no motor or fan. Only negative is that the timer is mechanical so you can hear it click on or off. But it does a good job heating our bedroom that is usually cold downstairs.

4 out of 5 stars Quiet and reliable   June 16, 2008

Followed advice from the other reviews-put it outside for an hour with the heat up to medium or so. The new smell pretty much went away after that. A little difficult to understand how to get it started at first, but that is not a problem now. Got it for my 95-year old mother to keep her warm, and it does fine in a medium size bedroom. Quiet and no problem about touching it while it's on-no surface is too hot.

This oil-filled radiator heater costs more than cheaper models of the same brand because of the safety top.
This is the second one I have purchased in the last 12 months.
No noise and no problems.
