5 out of 5 stars Worth getting for garlic alone!   April 1, 2008

I'm not big on fussy cooking techniques or complicated recipes, but I do like high quality fresh ingredients. After giving away my large food processor because I was always too lazy to use it, I went for decades just chopping by hand. I finally decided to spring for this little gadget just to see if it would encourage me to cook more creatively, and things are looking very promising. As others have mentioned, it is quite convenient to use, handle, and clean. I just made a dressing out of garlic, olive oil, vinegar, sun dried tomatoes, herbs, sugar, and a little lemon zest, and it came out so tasty I ate an enormous carrot just to have a dressing-delivery-vehicle. For added decadence I may add some grated cheese. It did an especially neat and tidy job of finely mincing the garlic, so that ingredient will be making a much more frequent appearance in my cooking -- now I need breath mints!!

4 out of 5 stars Pleased with quality for the price   March 29, 2008

I recently ordered Cuisinart DLC-2ABC Mini Prep Plus, brushed chrome

Very pleased with the prompt service and quality for the price. It is just right for my needs and easy to store as I am in an apt. with a smaller kitchen than when I was younger. One thing that you might want to improve on would be clearer instructions as to how to assemble the cover of the cup in order for it to make contact with the power. I am a widow and my husband was the one with the mechanical ability. Thankfully, I did get it figured out and am enjoying the ease of chopping and grinding. Thanks, Cuisinart

5 out of 5 stars works like a dream   March 28, 2008

I never use my big food proceesor and we sent the blender to goodwill. We make smoothies and jusice drings in this and chop herbs, garlic and make quick sauces. How could I live without it?

5 out of 5 stars Why did I wait so long??   March 23, 2008

I have the 11 cup Cuisinart & for years I used a FP attachment for my Krups blender, but it broke after only 6 years (grin).

I put off buying one of these thinking that it wouldn't be big enough or powerful enough to do what I needed it to do, essentially replace my molcajete for grinding and my large Cuisinart for smaller jobs.

This little machine rocks!

I love the fact that I don't have to fish around for the blade, that it's not 'keyed' and the grind and chop buttons reverse the food so that it's sucked back down into the workbowl, making having to scrape the sides nearly unnecessary.

I used it the first time to make an onion, garlic, herb & spice puree for my Mexican meatloaf recipe and it really did the job! I've seen some people complain that it makes onion puree, well, not unless you want it to.

I gave it a few quick pulses and had chopped onions. I then reversed the blades by using grind and by switching back and forth, had the puree done in a matter of seconds.

It can just chop easily enough, that was obvious.

Also, not having to remove the bowl to take off the lid is a terrific feature.

It would have gone into the dishwasher, but it was so simple to just wash it out with a sponge that I didn't bother. I will put it in the dishwasher if I'm making a large meal, but this can be rinsed and reused simply enough.

Quite the little workhorse for the money.

Most of my appliances are white, but since they've tended to yellow over the years, I chose this chrome version. It's not actually chrome, it's painted on, but that's okay, it wiped clean easily and since it's not shiney, no worry about fingerprints.

Get one, you'll wonder how you did without it!

4 out of 5 stars Handy and small   March 17, 2008

This chopper is certainly handy for chopping just about anything. But it is small. Small is good because it takes up almost no space in my tiny galley kitchen, but it does take several batches sometimes to chop things up. It is worth it to never have to chop onions by hand again, Simply quarter them and let this little guy do the rest. I do wish sometimes that it could hold slightly more.
