Warning: this juicer is a weapon July 16, 2004 Vincent (Canada) 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
I loved this juicer the first couple of times i used it, it was much much better than my juiceman junior in every possible way (easy to clean, decent noise level, dry pulp, etc) until i had a very unpleasant surprise. As some other people said, the juicer started vibrating and the lid became loose, the noise it made almost gave me an heart attack. Even after turning the juicer off, it took a few minutes for the motor to stop so it kept making that scary noise. I even left the room, i was afraid that the blade could somehow detach itself and hit me.Had it not been for this design flaw, i'd have given it 4 or 5 star. If you wanna buy it for yourself, go ahead, you've been warned but please, do not ever let anyone else use it or worse, don't give it to someone as a gift. I think it should be taken off the market, it's too dangerous.

A word of warning: The second time I used this juicer, I got a little surprise. Can you imagine what happens when the lid of a 500-something watt juicer becomes loose and falls off? It's very Not Good. It sprayed apple juice and bits pretty much all over my kitchen. I've just finished cleaning the walls of apple.See, the lid is only kept on with two little metal tabs, and you have to rotate the lid counter-clockwise only a tiny bit to remove it. Well, the vibration of the machine itself seems to sometimes turn the lid, and...presto...it's not good. So, a warning to the uninitiated...hold the lid in place yourself or at least watch that it doesn't move. In my case the lid actually vibrated itself open, then was violently thrown off by the spinning interior, bending one of the little metal tabs almost 90 degrees straight up, landing on the glass that was collecting the juice (which didn't break, thank God) and making generally a real mess. I had to bend the metal tab down again to get the lid to fit right. I still like the juicer, but watch that the lid doesn't come off!
I think this juicer is amazing June 13, 2004 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I got this juicer as a gift yesterday. I used to have a Hamilton Beach cheap juicer that was pretty terrible: it was miserable to clean, and when I put the plastic in the dishwasher it warped, which meant that from then on the juicer would shower my kitchen with carrot bits since the plastic thingy that holds the waste couldn't fit right again. This juicer is a whole 'nother thing: the motor is amazingly powerful, the machine in general is solid and well-made, meaning it doesn't leak, and seems pretty easy to clean. I'm not sure why some people don't seem to like it. True, it vibrates a hell of a lot, especially if the spinning centrifugal-rotor gets off-center, something like a washer or dryer would. But the flipside of this design is that the extracted fruit or vegetable bits that keep getting spun around means more juice is extracted (as opposed to other juicers that throw the waste into a separate compartment right away). The only negative thing I see is that citrus requires another attachment, but most juicers seem to be either citrus or vegetable, with attachments sold separately. I recommend this juicer. Very solid and well-made.

I had researched this product for juicing ability and power. I ended up buying this one and after using it *twice* the motor just shut off. I returned this product and waited 3 months for the replacement. I decided to try juicing carrots and celery, and after no more than 5 minutes the motor just shut itself off again. I might be able to forgive this if it was the only problem with it. If you are juicing small things, like berries, with larger vegetables/fruit the unit will get off balanced shake the top loose and damage the blade. I know I read these bad reviews and said, "oh that won't happen to me"... but it did. I hope you choose a different juicer.
Auto Shut Off? October 4, 2003 M. CUMMINGS (New York, NY United States) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I did a lot of research and chose this juicer based on reputation, motor power and style. I exchanged the first one and am now going to have to exchange/return the second one because it automatically turns off after about 90 seconds, even if nothing is being juiced and the motor just runs! It is not the electricity as I have used several more powerful appliances in the same outlet.
