5 out of 5 stars My Choice from Experience   September 21, 2008

I very much recommend the Breville Juice Fountain Elite, Model 800 JEXL to anyone who is a serious juicer or juices for health issues. It is well built, heavy duty, does not heat up the juice, the pulp comes out dry, and very easy to clean. The manual is well written, easy enough. I am also getting a very high juice to pulp ratio and have not experienced this before.

Over the years I have burned-up many low end juicers and wasn't satisfied with so called high end devices. "I am very pleased with this juicer."

3 out of 5 stars Like throwing the baby out with the bath water   September 20, 2008

I'm new to juicing and just purchased this unit a week ago after doing my research and reading reviews. I'm disappointed with how wet the pulp is in addition to chunks of product not getting juiced and thrown in to the pulp collector bin. I used both speeds and also pushed the plunger down slow as recommended but same result. I think this is an inherent design flaw due to the distance between the chute and the cutting blade being too great allowing pieces to get thrown out without getting juiced. Forget trying to juice leafy greens like spinach as you'll have little juice after putting in the whole bag and much of it thrown in the pulp collector. Unless you have an unlimited grocery budget and can afford such inefficient results, I'd consider going with a high quality smoothie maker or other juicing method such as grind and press. Less waste, more goodness!

5 out of 5 stars I love this juicer   September 11, 2008

This is the best juicer I have ever owned. It is easy to clean, very powerful and quick. It also extracts the juice so well that pulp is nearly dry - I can no longer use the carrot pulp for my carrot cake. I line the pulp collection bin with a plastic bag so clean-up is even easier.

Some of the drawbacks:
- very loud, like a fighter jet on take-off
- juice does not flow well out the spout; I had to connect a plastic hose fitting and voila! no more spray
- Occasionally it leaves chunks of whatever you are juicing bouncing around in the chamber

Overall, the fact that it can juice whole, small apples and has a larger capacity than other juicers makes it worthwhile.

5 out of 5 stars Great juicer!   August 27, 2008

I waited awhile to review this item as first impressions can be deceiving.

I am quite happy to say that the shine has not worn off however. I like this juicer very much as it's fast, powerful and efficient and the ease of cleaning is another big plus. I run the pulp back through after juicing and a juice press would probably extract a bit more but other than that, I recommend it.

I had a champion juicer which may have been a more effective for leafy greens but once I tried this machine I gave the champion away and I wouldn't consider going back.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome juicer   August 25, 2008

This is the best juicer on the market. Great price through Amazon. I use it daily and it works beautifully. Very rugged, easy to clean and best of all my fiance loves it. He makes me fruit and vegetable juices daily. You cannot go wrong with this product. Do not try to save money buying a cheaper brand. This is the best on the market by far.
