Good grinder, but not perfect. November 9, 2008 Mark Turpin (Connecticut) I considered the Capresso and the Breville and decided to get the Breville because it took up less counter space, though it was slightly more expensive. It does a great job grinding coffee beans and the fineness of the grind is adjustable, so overall I am happy. It also is a nice looking piece of kitchen equipment. The flaw is that the container into which the ground coffee falls is made of a plastic from which the grind does not release easily. I don't know if it is static or something else, but I find myself tapping the container to try to get the coffee out, and I never get it all. There must be some material that could have been used that would have worked better. Also, this container does seem a bit flimsy, and I'm careful not to drop it, because it looks as if it might break easily.
Almost perfect October 18, 2008 Bluedog (Houston, TX) This is an excellent grinder. Its my second burr grinder and it is almost perfect for the money. It does not grind 100% uniform, but close.
Excellent coffee grinder October 4, 2008 Nicholas Nicholson (Scottsdale, AZ) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've discovered that the grind of a coffee is as important as the quality of the coffee beans and getting a great cup of java, equivalent to the Starbucks of the world, starts with a good qualify bean and a good grind that's consistent. The Breville does almost as good as the commercial grade grinders that you find in most retail stores, except that you don't get the inadvertent taste of someone else's grind. It's easy to use and is quieter than most standard inexpensive grinders and it looks good sitting on the counter. For people that grind their coffee immediately before each brew, this grinder is ideal. For those who want to great a pound or two at a time, this will work, but it'll take a little longer than the grinder at the grocery store. The finest grind isn't quiet as fine as "Turkish grind, but closer to what you would use in your expresso coffee maker.
The Best Grinder I've Owned! October 3, 2008 Matthew Carlton 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is my third grinder, second burr grinder and I can't imagine a better grinder. Works great, not too loud, not much static build-up. Very consistent grind. I've owned for about 4 months without any problem. Highly recommended!
Poor design, poorly executed. October 2, 2008 Sam D. Maloney (Alder, MT United States) 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
Lasted less than a month. I haven't sent it in for service because I don't think I want it back. >It won't handle oily beans-- they just clog up the chute. >Doesn't produce enough per cycle for a large American style brewer--you have to do it in batches. >The small, oddly shapped ground receptical is hard to empty and has to be inserted *just* so or the grinder won't work. Why is a good grinder so hard to find?
