Great Blender, better customer service June 30, 2008 Leslie Lees (New York City) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My beloved Kitchenaid blender finally dies and I do not like the design of the new ones so I thought hard about the replacement and settled on the Breville. As soon as I used it I realized I had a blender that far exceeded my expectations and experience. The smoothie function alone far exceeds anything I could have imagined. It blends and pulses in a way that properly blends everything and also does not leave gunk up the side of the jug as other blenders do. The design is also beautiful so form and function are perfect. I did have a slight problem when I put in some hard frozen fruit and the rubber mount on the blade assembly shredded slightly. Even though it was a once only problem and I did not have the problem again Breville replaced the assembly free of charge and because they did not have the 550 assembly they sent me the 600 blades and jug as an upgrade. I could not be happier.
Not enough power! May 29, 2008 Cyphron (Bay Area, CA) 4 out of 8 found this review helpful
I am a smoothie person who drinks at least one smoothie a day. I got tired of spending ten minutes a day making smoothie with one of the cheap blenders, so I decided to buy a more high powered blender. The Breville was my first choice for its reasonable price/power and it's great looks. Unfortunately, my first smoothie was a disaster. I filled the smoothie 2/3 with fruits and ice, and I stood there pushing the smoothie button three consecutive times to no avail. Then I smelled something burning and I figured it was the motor. After spending 10 minutes getting the thing to make smoothie, the result was no better than my old cheap cusinart blender. Apparently, 610 watts is just not enough if you want to make thick, smooth smoothie. I promptly returned it.
Happy Customer... May 25, 2008 Tina1971 (NJ) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this blender so much!!!! I just know that you will too. I mostly use it for protein shakes and fruit smoothies, and it is wonderful. Very powerful and unlike my last blender does not leave frozen berry remnants in the drink, everything blends nicely. It is quick and easy to clean and will always shine and sparkle like the day you bought it.
Sweet Blender February 25, 2008 Jonathan V Hess 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'm a car guy and my preference leads towards souped up diesel cars. My preferences run towards the well built/designed products regardless of price within reason. I've found this blender to be awesome, the only things that bother a near perfect experience are the limited run time ( for apple sauce I need to restart it four times ), it'd save some back and forth if it just stayed spinning however long you want it, safety aside of course but --- I don't know why this feature makes is safer. All in all, a really nice product with some quality construction and great power, the deadspot thing seems true with the hemispherical shaped bowl. Just hope it last for the long haul now...
VERY NICE! January 18, 2008 R. Huffman (Anaheim, CA) 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
When our 10 year old blender broke, we decided to buy another blender. Our previous blender was somewhat loud and always seem to have a problem with ice and other hard foods. So many blenders have a problem because they create a pocket of air, therefore you must stop the machine every now and then to force the material back down. Most are loud, and most importantly... most do not have enough power to blend and chop ice. My wife wanted to buy a professional blender like the smoothie and coffee shops have, however the costs involved quickly dispelled any thought of obtaining one. I found a few publications/editorials that rated the Breville blenders a "cut above" most other blenders. Since we love ice cream and shakes, chopping ice is one of the most important features that a blender can have for us. In fact this is the crucial test that really makes a good blender... it's motor and how it tackles this job. We purchased the Breville blender and received it in the mail. Upon opening the box, I immediately liked the design and well crafted parts. Even the electrical plug had a unique design that made plugging into the wall a little easier (which came with a plug cover). All the parts seem solid and thick. The top cover, had a solid rubber seal with a nice round finger hold to open the cover after you've finished. This part is also VERY NICELY designed and crafted. It seems to be made like the old 1950-60's blenders and my wife was happy about that too. I got it out, plugged it in and turned it on to test it. Some have stated that the Breville are extremely quiet and powerful. It is true that the blender has plenty of power, for I tested it with big ice "chunks" and didn't have much of a problem with the ice. However it really isn't too quiet. Yes, it's has less decibels of sound than your average blender, but it isn't silent either. The motor is fairly powerful, but you can definitely hear it power through those tough ice jobs. Since the product is fairly new, I cannot vouch for it's reliability and longevity, but it's works very well. It appears to be made well and well crafted. We are happy so far. I would suggest this product to anyone. I especially suggest it to anyone who chops ice for Margaritas, shakes or a blender that is powerful, nice looking and well made.
