Great grill grate scrubber February 10, 2008

This is the best scrubber I've used for my grills. I have a Weber Ranch Kettle, Weber Genesis Silver C, and a Weber Smoky Mountain Cooker (yes, I have a weber addiction...I'm getting help). This scrubber does a good job of keeping all the grates clean. The only drawback is that the pad does a good job of keeping the top of the grates clean, but does not reach between the bars of the grate well. So, if you have a lot of stuck-on meat, you'll have to do a high-heat burn off to get them really clean.

This brush is absolutely great, as other reviewers have explained. I found out that the unravelling of the pad is not due to the quality of the brush, but to possums and raccoons that come at night and chew on the brush dangling by the side of the grill. I suspected that was the case when I noticed my pads were unravelling mysteriously between uses, not during uses.

This tool is probably the smartest grilling accessory I've seen in a while. You can get replacement pads at most dollar stores, which makes this tool even nicer. The Grill Wizard runs circles around my old bristle brush!
Tip: Make sure your cooking grid is super-hot before you brush it off. I do this each time I grill and most of the crud turns to char and falls right off. This'll save you from having to use a narrower brush to get between the cooking grid's bars. Works like a charm and the grid is so hot that food won't stick to it!

This is basically a steel scouring pad with a handle.
It is excellent for cleaning the tops of the grate, which is where traditional brass bristle brushes fall short (the bristles tend to flatten out and eventually ruin the brush). I recommend giving your grill a good once-over after you are finished grilling, but before the grill cools off. This will loosen any oil-based debris and make it easier to scrub off.
For the nooks and crannies in between the grates, however, you'll want to hang onto your brass brush. I use them both together and they complement each other well.
