5 out of 5 stars Very fast   September 5, 2008
Renee L. Pennington (Salt Lake City, UT USA)
We've used this kettle for daily coffee brewing for a couple years, we love it: turn it on, grind the beans, prepare the filter, and the water is ready. It is fast, safe and has lasted. The kettle is separate from the heating element so you can take the kettle anywhere, just like you would a stove top kettle.

On the down side, the kettle lid has a tongue that covers the pouring spout, and it does not retract properly. It tends to pop back out when the lid is removed, making it difficult to replace the lid. So I fill the kettle through the spout. This worked well once I removed the filter screen in the spout (I'm not sure what it was for, anyhow).

Also, the brushed stainless finish is no longer beautiful---it lives by the stove and has grease spots even after the grease has been wiped away. But it has lived a hard life and still looks better than the yellowed-with-age white plastic version I had many years ago, and it has not accumulated ugly hard water stains.

Some folks have recommended the Breville kettle over this one. If you want your water boiled as fast as possible, however, the Krups is the better bet as it has 1750 watts of power while the Breville has only 1500 watts.

5 out of 5 stars electric tea kettle   August 29, 2008

It works great and was a good value. I saw it a week later in an
outlet store for $20 more.

1 out of 5 stars poorly designed lid   August 28, 2008

The lid was always difficult to get on. Now the lid is stuck & will not come off. I've used this pot for less than a year. I'll retrieve the Russell Hobbs pot that I used for 20 years prior to this one & put it back in use.

Like others have mentioned, the cord is very short. I've also had the auto shut-off not work a couple of times, so I never trusted that feature.

1 out of 5 stars Poorly made   August 19, 2008

Works fine if you need a kettle that lasts a year and no more, the cheap "global" manufacturing (not German) has caused the spout opening mechanism to malfunction and I sometimes have to struggle for minutes before I can even get the ruddy thing open...buy at your own risk...The kettle is made in China.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent, hard-working Product!   August 17, 2008
I. Hopkins (Oregon)
I bought this Krups kettle at Amazon.com over 3 years ago, and it is still functioning the same as the day I got it! I have used it every day, several times a day for the past 3 yrs. and I can't say enough about it. It is simply a workhorse!!! Never had any problems with the electrical components or water leakage anywhere or not heating correctly --- everything is working perfectly as day 1! Oh, I almost forgot --- this kettle has the most wattage available on the market today (1750 watts) and as such, heats up water to boiling (in full capacity) in about 3-4 minutes flat. I am extremely happy with my product and would HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who is contemplating purchasing it but hasn't yet. This product is absolutely phenomenal!!! I will purchase it again, if and when this kettle should one day fail me due to age, etc. and finally stop functioning.
