 Dangerous overheating after 2 years September 20, 2008

We loved this coffee maker -- until the electrical system went haywire after two years. First the programmable feature wouldn't work, then it refused to turn on manually. Finally (today), when it decided to let us have some coffee, it brewed it so hot that it achieved a rolling boil within the carafe and smoke was pouring out of it! Luckily I was standing nearby and unplugged it before it started a real electrical fire.
You might wonder why I still give it 2 stars after this experience -- for two years, it was the perfect coffee maker!

I am really pleased with the Cuisinart DCC-1200. I have had it for about a month and I love it. We got the black and stainless model and it looks great on the counter.
This coffee maker is easy to use and is constructed well. I spent a few minutes reading the manual and find it easy to use all of its features. I like how hot the coffee is - hotter than any other maker I have tried.
I highly recommend the DCC-1200.

This coffee maker is exactly what is needed and does not cost a fortune. Have tried other brands, but should have gone with the Cuisinart from the beginning.

Black Cusinart coffee maker is a good choice because unlike the white it doesn't show coffee stain. I like the auto clean light which reminds me to clean with vinegar. This coffee maker is worth the price.
