Bought one in Germany 20 years ago & finally had to replace it. Still great
Bad Experience Here September 4, 2008 Lucky1 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have not had the experience of so many others here. The item is not easy to set up, one must be careful of the blades surrounding the borders of the slicer inserts. Not easy to clean, made mush of the tomatoes, and potatoes. Sorry, my experience rates this one star.
What a Slicer! September 1, 2008 Charles Minnick (Santa Maria,CA USA) This is the only slicer you need.If you enjoy making deli sandwiches, this will do the job.
OMG! September 1, 2008 zenner (california) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Hey this is great! I thought I'd end up spending $100.00 bucks for some fancy all-steel mandolin...then I found this. It does what it says. It's easy to clean. It works. Period. I don't use the food holder (gulp). I just make sure I am paying attention to what I'm doing, because this thing is SHARP.
Many of my knives just became obsolete August 24, 2008 Jon M. (SF Bay Area) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I just unwrapped this thing, and after figuring out how to put the extra julienne blades back, am already in love with it. I had some overly ripe tomatoes that I wanted to slice up for sandwiches and general snacking (why is it things always taste better bite sized or thinly sliced?). It takes about two seconds to figure out how to use the safety handle to slam through a bunch of fruit or veggies. Within less than a minute, I had eliminated 3, soft skinned tomatoes in even super thin cuts that would have required sharpening my knife and much thicker, sloppier cutting than I would have preferred. The leftovers in the handle was minimal. For cleaning, it was just a rinse immediately after using (as you should with any sharp kitchen tool to prevent scrubbing/injury). If it can handle my kitchen nemesis of almost-worn-out-it's-welcome veggies, I'm sure oranges, potatoes and everything else will be a cinch.
