This is an ideal steamer, i.e.,it is big enough to do large or small tasks. There's no healthier way to cook veggies than steaming & being vegan, I cook a lot of 'em, so the divider comes in very handy. Brown rice takes longer than it says; but cooks it perfectly. It does small red potatoes just right, divine carrots! My husband cooked dinner using it, & everything was delicious. I use only deionized water in the steamer bottom, so the burner won't corrode.

4 out of 5 stars great product for this price   May 27, 2008

I purchased this food steamer as I am preparing the babyfood for my son at home from fresh vegetables. It's easy to use - has a great capacity and works just fine. All I have to do is cleaning the veggies, cut them and fill it all in. The manual tells you exactly how long it needs to be steamed. So you set the clock and it does the rest on its own. I am really glad I bought this item!

5 out of 5 stars Best Steamer   April 25, 2008

I had an almost identical steamer from Black & Decker purchased around 1985. The lid on that one finally broke and I've been looking for one like it for 2 years. Nice to see a good design hasn't been changed. Love the steamer!

5 out of 5 stars only steamer on the market?   April 14, 2008

This is our second B/D steamer. The first served us well for years before the plexiglass bowl cracked and finally broke. It was impossible to find a replacement in any major chain stores. Lots of rice steamers but no small in size vegetable steamers. Amazon came through again. Thanks Jeff!
