GREAT rice cooker March 5, 2008 Sam I Am I Am I'm Japanese and we take our white rice very seriously. I got this because I lost my last one that I brought from Japan in my divorce. This thing makes GOOD rice. One button start is easy to use. My only complaint is, it takes FOREVER to cook the rice, so if you've had a late day at the office, it's a pain to have to wait for the rice to cook. I understand that a lot of nice rice cookers take a long time to cook these days, so I guess we just have to learn to live with it. Overall, good product!!
Great Rice Cooker February 15, 2008 Zhida Ma (Atlanta, GA) I enjoyed this rice cooker very much. It cooks much better rice compared to my old one under $20. The rice tasts many many times better. If you cook rice almost every day, it worths the cost.
Who knew rice could be so good? February 8, 2008 A. Lehman (IL) We received this rice cooker as a gift and love it! It makes perfect rice with really minimal effort. (Literally, you add rice, water, and push a single button. It beeps when it's ready.) It never boils over like some of the other rice cookers I've seen.
Good rice cooker, but expensive December 28, 2007 Rich O 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is a nice product but compared to cheaper rice cookers you can buy at a chinese grocery store, I'm not sure it's worth it. pros: - timer feature - reheating cycle - haven't tried the porridge option yet - rice pot is easier to clean - probably produces more consistent rice than a cheaper one cons: - takes a lot longer to cook (~50 minutes for 3 cups, ~40 minutes using "quick" cooking). - much more expensive If you have the extra cash it's a good product to own, but in terms of bang for the buck it's just an okay value IMHO.
An Excellent Rice Cooker October 31, 2007 Lisa Manske (Wauwatosa, WI USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I wasn't that excited when I received this as a gift but as soon as I started using it I was thrilled! No more trying to start the rice at just the right time so it will be ready when the rest of the meal is done. I can start the rice whenever it's conventient and it will keep warm and be ready when I am ready to eat. No more pots boiling over on the stove with starchy rice water burned onto my stove top. If you love risotto but don't like being tied to the stove stirring, you'll love this. It's also excellent for many other dishes, not just rice. I do agree with another reviewer that the owner's manual isn't very helpful. However, I received an excellent book with my rice cooker, "The Ultimate Rice Cooker Cookbook" by Hensperger. With the help of this cookbook, I have made many delicious dishes. Brown rice comes out excellent as well! This is a great rice cooker at an affordable price. If you eat rice more than once a month, you'll love this small applicance. Oh, I almost forgot, it cleans up in a snap as well!
