I thought that this rice cooker was GREAT, until the hot plate stopped working after 6 months. You are better off staying away from items that are "automatic" - They just cause too many problems. By the time you return it to the manufacturer, you have already spent $30 in shipping the item. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

We did not purchase this through Amazon. In the slow cooking mode, it kept shutting off to the "keep warm" mode after about 15 minutes. It would eventually stay on, but we had to "babysit" it and restart it when it shut down. We exchanged it for a new one and the new one did the very same thing.

What a fantastic cooker/steamer. This device is perfect for our RV and travels the miles with us willingly. We use it as a slow cooker most of the time but when we need a vegetable steamer or rice cooker it's right there ready to help. This is a great device to replace several other devices. We love it!!!!

I'm eating a lot healthier with the Krups FDH212. Just right rice cooking: It's amazing how the unit knows exactly when to stop and shift into "keep warm" mode for perfectly cooked rice. You can mix a combination of other foods with the rice and get the same good results. For steaming, you're in command: just set the minute-timer. When it stops, the unit shifts into "keep warm" mode. It works the same for slow cooking: Just set the timer and forget it. You can return to a meal that's warm and not overcooked. Clean-up is easy and fast because of the stainless steel exterior and removeable nonstick inside container. I'm delighted with my purchase. All that's missing is a good steamed-food cook book. I got that from Amazon, too.
