Perfect Rice Every Time October 25, 2007 Random Reviewer (Seattle, WA) This rice cooker takes all the guesswork out of making perfect rice -- I purchased one for friends and liked it so much I bought one for myself. It is a reasonable size and keeps one more pot off the stove when cooking. The retractable cord makes it easy to store, and it's easy to clean. But, best of all, you just add rice and water to the right line, and perfect rice every time! Only downsides are that there is no audible signal to let you know the rice is done, and the countdown display doesn't show up until 10-15 minutes before it's done (it depends on how much rice you're making). But, if you know it takes about 30-40 minutes to make rice on regular cook (there's a fast cook that works well too if you're in a hurry), those aren't huge downsides. The "Keep Warm" feature also helps offset these downsides, as when the rice is done, the cooker keeps it warm until you're ready to serve. Overall, pricey, but worth it if you make a lot of meals with rice.
good brown rice cooker July 12, 2007 Kieun Park 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have never cooked brown rice in electronic rice cooker before, but this rice cooker actually cooks nice brown rice. Tender and soft, although it takes about 1 hour to cook it. And I have kept rice warm for up to 3days, and it does not dry out rice.
My first rice cooker June 15, 2007 Evelyn Williams (central Ohio) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've had this cooker for just a week. It's everything I hoped it would be. I read all the reviews of every rice cooker out there before I decided to purchase this one and wish to thank all the folks who write reviews. I've cooked brown rice and sweet brown rice. I've made two batches of steel cut oats, used the slow cook function to test the temperature...I'm sure that it cooks at the high temperature rather than low that is mentioned in slow cooker cookbooks. The size is equal to that of a 1 1/2 quart slowcooker. I steam cooked eggs to hard cooked perfection and made a concoction from cooked brown rice and added some ingredients and and cooked a little more in the cooker...we loved it. The size is just right for two...enough leftovers for a second meal. Cleanup is so easy... I was very interested in the Zojirushi induction model but I noted that this model has a sprouted brown rice function...that means cooking sprouted brown rice, not sprouting it in the cooker. I had hoped that was not the case but given the difference in price I am not dissappointed. I hope this is helpful to someone as the other reviews have been very helpful to me.

This rice cooker has everything I wanted except for a beep when it's done. The pot is very heavy and thick with clear water level markings for different types of rice although they're painted on so be careful not to scrub them off. It is the only fuzzy logic machine I've seen with a steamer insert. I haven't tried that function yet though. To me it is the most attractive unit I've seen and a toaster cover fits it perfectly. I've used it several times with about 4 different types of rice and they've all come out perfectly. Towards the end of the cooking cycle the time left till done is displayed but I think a beep or 2 would be better. Really 4 1/2 stars is about right.
Very good, but not perfect March 22, 2007 M. Fox 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I picked this thing up after my faithful Zojirushi died in a small, kitchen fire a little while back. Wired magazine gave it a top rating in a recent (at the time of this writing) issue, and it was cheaper than a similar Zojirushi (the #2 machine in the above mentioned article), so I decided to give it a shot. I wasn't disappointed. The rice actually seems to come out better than the rice I got from my old Zojirushi, though both machines were very good in that respect. I actually think I prefer it to the old cooker, but there are a few minor gripes that I just have to mention... First, the Sanyo takes at least 50% longer to cook the same amount of rice as the Zojirushi, if not longer. Also, there's no audible indicator when the cooking is complete. You just have to look at it to know when it's finished, but a simple beeping noise or something would be a big plus... Lastly (and this is a minor gripe), the buttons kinda feel "worn out" right from the start. All in all, it's a great product. Good value, makes terrific rice, but with a couple of tweaks, it'd be near-perfect. Even after using both rice cookers, I'd still choose this one over the Zojirushi, but just barely. I'd give it 4.5 stars overall.
