I ordered this steamer to make a central Asian dish that requires a special pot that is not sold in the States. Only after already ordered I've read the previous review and got really concerned. So as soon as the steamer arrived I immediately tested it. I made my Central Asian dish "manti" and it turned out great. The display was easy to read and set. The steam did not "leak" into the base but worked the way it should be. Perhaps the person who left the previous review had a defected steamer. Give it a try. I love mine.

The Deni does a great job steaming vegetables(that's all I've done at this point) and I don't have any complaints as far as that goes. However, I'm a little concerned with the programmable and on/off buttons of the Deni. They are flimsy and I halfway expect them to just fall out one of these days soon. I had wondered if the seller had sold me a previously used reconditioned one or if this problem happens to be common to this product. I don't know, but I guess for the price I paid, I shouldn't be worried about the buttons falling out.

Are you looking for the Ultimate Steamer that a first time user can use with ease or a Pro can make their most prized recipe? Then the Deni Stainless Steel Food Steamer is the one! From vegetables to fish and chicken, they all come out perfect! Drip tray is a dream for making gravies. It is easy to refill the water during steaming and very easy to clean! I would recommend this steamer to everyone and I know you will like it as much as I do! There isn't a day that goes by in our household that it isn't used! Bon appetit!

It looks fancy in the picture. The panel is actually hard to read. The steam penetrates through the panel and thus make it blurry and leaks/steams out. It has an unstable base. Bought three. Opened one. Returned three.
