best purchase ever October 6, 2008 L. Defferding (PACKER COUNTRY) Thsi was the best purchase I ever made for my dog, she loves it too. I have told everyone of my friends with a dog they did this brush. I wish I had bought it sooner.
It's Amazing! October 5, 2008 C. Nolder I heard a joke once that labs only shed twice a year...the first time for 6 months and the second time for 6 months. We have a yellow lab and we could brush him all day long and still have hair in the house! We even tried shaving him to no avail. The furminator takes off mounds of hair. I used to vacuum every day and could still see hair, now I vacuum once a week. We also have 4 cats and I am definitely going to buy the cat furminator. This is the best thing since sliced bread!
It does remove a lot of hair! October 5, 2008 Crackerjax (Boise, ID) My dog has long hair and a lot of it. I tried the furminator and found that it does remove a lot of hair, but one has to be very careful when using it - just like the instructions mention. Because our dog has a lot of hair, it takes regular slow, controlled brushing ~ once per week to keep it under control. The brush is better used on the coat rather than the tail. I use a comb on his tail and hold on to the root section so that it doesn't cause pain. If only the furminator inventors could stop the static build up when brushing. That seems to really bother our dog.
Happy with the purchase October 5, 2008 J. Law (Tampa, FL) This is a great grooming tool. I have a golden retriever and it works great. It does make the coat look thinner but it's worth it to have less hair around the house. Would definitely recommend this product.
OMG! This is the holy grail of grooming tools! October 4, 2008 afrowoman I came across this here on Amazon by chance and saw all the raving reviews and thought I'd give it a go. This thing is UNBELIEVABLE! Now let me tell you why: I have 3 dogs. One absolutely HATES being brushed, I've tried everything - brush, comb, those grooming glove thingies. She growls, shakes, looks at me angrily and it's always such a traumatic experience for us both. I almost always end up having to put a muzzle on her to get the job done. She has medium-ish length fur, a bit fine. I tried the Furminator on her. She lay down in a relaxed way and half closed her eyes and really seemed to enjoy it! Not once did she growl or show any signs of discomfort! I still can't believe it! And the furminator got a lot of fur out - she looks sleek and beautiful now. Brushing her will no longer be a nightmare for us both. Dog number 2. She has short hair and a lot of it. It's dense and short, a bit like velvet. She's also ultra sensitive and doesn't like being brushed. With the furminator she was absolutely comfortable & relaxed being brushed plus she shed A LOT of fur and she wasn't even showing signs of shedding yet - her black fur is nice and shiny now! Dog number 3. Loves being brushed and her fur is in between the other two lengthwise. A lot of undercoat gone now and her fur is pretty as can be. I am SO pleased with this product. It's by far the BEST grooming tool I've ever tried and as my dogs are pleased well worth the price. I have 3 mutts - they're medium sized dogs and I got the medium size furminator. I was going to get the large size but I'm glad I didn't, this size is perfect. The only con is the furminator doesn't hold the fur it gets out and it can fly all over the place so be sure to follow the instructions and brush your dog in an area you can easily vacuum. I also don't think it might be appropriate for very long haired dogs as the teeth are quite short.
