so many jobs well done February 20, 2007 terry m. (boston, ma) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Wonderful for making smoothies, refried beans, creamy potatoes, quickly pureeing soups that call for transferring batches to food processor - just stick it in the pot and it blends in a few seconds. It creams hard frozen bananas just like ice cream. I just put my food processor way up high in the "little used" storage area of my kitchen because this Rival hand blender makes it unnecessary. I use it several times a week and have had it since 1993. I keep finding more uses for it every week. Clean up takes seconds since the only area to get really messy is the blade area at the end. The blades are rounded and very easy to clean with your fingers.
Blender Use January 12, 2007 Chery A. Epperson 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I like the blender, it works really great to create a variety of cocktails, milkshakes as well as mashing up stuff such as beans to make refried beans. It doesn't do a great job of smushing up small amounts of food to make baby food; the blender whirls with so much power it just sucks up the food into the blade but won't let it out. This item is great for making gravy too, but it can throw food up and out of shallow pans with the centrifugal force it creates so watch the hot stuff.
RIVAL ULTRABLEND June 30, 2004 12 out of 14 found this review helpful
I have had a Rival Ultrablend that after 7 years of heavy use in our kitchen we will lay to rest because the seal is broken. I have been afraid of this day because we have had the opportunity to use handblenders of other brands and have found that none perform like our Rival. We have found it to be the only one to puree food fine enough for a baby, strong and sharp enough to blend our recipes on our stovetop instead of transferring soups to our blender. Hoping that the new model performs just as well, we are sticking to Rival.
Older model February 10, 2003 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
I've had an older model for around six years and it's wonderful! I use it several times per week. Today I just had to write a review because I made cauliflower soup. One part called for transfering the soup into a blender in batches. All I had to do was stick the blender into the sauce pan - quick, easy, no mess to deal with!
I've Had This Blender For Over A Year January 28, 2003 rainsworld (MA United States) 24 out of 24 found this review helpful
I have been making smoothies almost everyday and they come out great. Put my decaf coffee and 1% milk in the microwave and froth it with this stick-like device and in 10 seconds it froths. Have used it to whip baked potatoes into creamy mashed. Am always thinking I'm over-taxing its little motor, but no, I start it up and its still working.
