Senseo: Great Machines, Horrible Coffee October 16, 2008 Erik K (Pittsburgh, PA USA) I got one of these directly from Senseo as part of a promotion where I was supposed to share the product with friends and family. After my first few cups of Senseo coffee (included) I don't think they would've wanted me to be sharing my opinion with friends and family. Following some suggestions in other reviews here and elsewhere I tried getting some different brands of pods online. This made a HUGE improvement. I now have quick, easy, and delicious coffee. Additionally, most of the pods I found will make a full 8 oz with only one pod so you don't have to go through two pods for every normal sized mug of coffee. It's still not quite up to a freshly ground cup of premium coffee which I prefer when I have the time to deal with all the prep and cleaning of the normal coffee maker, but is great when I'm running late or need a quick caffeine fix before I can even function. My only complaint at this point is that the included reservoir only holds 20 oz, but they have a larger replacement available that I'm considering. If you're looking for something to make a quick cup of tasty coffee, I'd recommend this product but only with non-Senseo pods!
Great Value October 14, 2008 Jonathan Ferrante (New Jersey) This thing is awesome! Good coffee quick! Little clean up and very convenient. I like the senseo brand coffee, but I would not consider myself a connoisseur. To get a large cup of coffee you need to use the 2 pod holder. I purchase the pods from Amazon and it ends up costing approx $2 per large cup of coffee. For the price paid ($38) this thing is the best money I have spent to date.

Don't use pods - They're a rip off October 8, 2008 Happy Buyer 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love my senseo - but I also like the convenience of using whatever coffee I want in it. Since I don't like ordering coffee online and paying shipping, I was reduced to figuring out how to make my own pods. All you have to do is buy regular sized (4 cup) filters, and cut them down with scissors until their circumference is 5 and a half inches across. You can cut about 10 at a time. Once that is done, press one into the pod holder. You choose how much strength you want: Have your favorite coffee ground to your choice of fineness. (This will vary depending on how strong you like your coffee. Me: I like it strong so I use a superfine grind and the double pod holder) Pack the coffee with something flat and fold over the filter with your hands. Don't worry, you won't have coffee bits in your coffee because they can't really flow through the pod holder anyways. Turn it on- You'll have great coffee with a creamy top in a few seconds.
senseo coffee pot September 22, 2008 M. Causey (Indiana) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love the coffee maker, although I don't exactly love that it only makes 1-2 cups per "session." A warning to new users would be to make sure the pods are properly aligned and that the top part closes completely before you turn it on, otherwise you'll end up with coffee all over your counter!
