4 out of 5 stars review - KitchenAir KMTT40000B   June 25, 2008

Love the toaster. Only (minor) complaint would be that the toaster slots could be larger. Long slices of bread do not fit in (go down) all of the way.

5 out of 5 stars Finally, a toaster that works!   June 11, 2008
Rich Mc (Flemington, NJ United States)
After a succession of failed $50 toasters (Cuisinart, Black & Decker, Hamilton Beach, etc.) it is finally satisfying to own a toaster that works. Once you get past the $100 sticker-shock, you'll realize that cheaper toasters that poop-out after only a few months of use are no bargain. This KitchenAid toaster is solidly built, works great and is worth the money.

2 out of 5 stars Looks great, works poorly   June 2, 2008
E. Styron (Oakland, CA USA)
This toaster is beautiful... but after owning it for less than a week (using it three times) the left side is no longer functional. The knob felt loose when we received it, and it now looks to be broken inside. It's impossible to lock down the toast slots for heating. The right side toasts reasonably well at the highest settings, but it generally doesn't seem very powerful. Despite its looks, and the overall sturdy feel of the toaster, the knobs and dials seem very cheap and lightweight. Sadly, we are returning it for a refund. Update: We have since purchased a Breville 4 slice (two long slots) toaster, which had been the other model we were considering. It works very well. Not as aesthetically pleasing as this Kitchenaid, but solidly built and powerful even toasting.

5 out of 5 stars Toaster - Exceptional   May 30, 2008

This toaster is great..it has a warming button for when you just want something you have toasted warmed again. It does a great job on bagels, english muffins and toast. Cleaning is easy!!

3 out of 5 stars Good toaster but has some flaws   May 25, 2008

If you are looking for something that will toast four slices of bread and you aren't too picky you'll be happy with this toaster.

If you are looking for the perfect piece of toast then this isn't for you.

The good:
Seems solid and well built
It has a reasonble range from light to dark
Can toast with two settings at once
Does well with odd toast sizes
Easy to clean

The bad:
While better than most the toasting is not even: the top cooks more than the bottom
If you use both sides the addtional load reduces the heat on both sides. So the "4" setting that toasted so well now comes out more like it was on "3".

I'm leaning toward returning mine after a week of use.
