2 out of 5 stars Like soapy soup?   October 11, 2007

Like other reviewers, I was attracted mainly by the red color, glossy finish and spiffy nameplate. I also have them in blue, for our kosher kitchen. Like other Kitchenaid utensils I've tried, such as the box grater, these utensils are all style and no substance. They're basically useless: extremely large, clunky, heavy and very poorly balanced. The spatula is so thick it makes turning pancakes into a comedy routine. I get better results with just a table knife. The ladle serves logger-sized portions of soup, and so on. My main beef however, is that when they go through the dishwasher, they appear to absorb dishwasher detergent, or at least the fragrance, which they then impart to the chicken soup or the omelette that you are preparing. For this reason, I'm really afraid to use them at this point.

These are the worse utensils on the market for what you have to pay for them. They hold water in the handles whether you wash them by hand or in a dishwasher. When you pick them up to use them, the water runs out of the handles and drips into whatever you're trying to cook or prepare. Do not buy these!!

very nice & heavily built to last but just a little overpriced for color

It is an excellent set and goes well with my Kitchen Aid Tea Pot.

3 out of 5 stars Large on size and style   November 11, 2006

These are lovely to look at and display well in my kitchen----but, I have to agree with many of the other reviewers on the size. These are just too big! I find these akward to use and was burned when one toppled out of the pan splattering hot food on me. For this reason, I would highly suggest using a spoon rest or plate to put them on when you are not actually stirring with them. I hope that KitchenAid will listen to their customer's complaints and will scale these down to a user-friendly size.
