5 out of 5 stars Nice crockpot for two people   April 28, 2008

We bought this crockpot because we needed one that was small enough to make a couple of meals for two people. The others we looked at were way too big for just two people. This crockpot is very nice; the bowl is removable which makes it easy to clean. I cooks very nicely and even comes with a recipe book that has a few very good recipes in it.

this green Rival 2 1/2 quart crock pot cooks nicely. It is a little smaller than my previous 5 quart one, easier to use as my family has gotten smaller. It arrived promptly with a defective crock. I called the company and they checked the paperword then said not to return it, but they would send a new one. I like it.

This is my first crockpot, I'm single, so I thought that the 21/2 quart would be a good size. It has been great, but I've found I have to cut recipes in half, most crockpot recipes call for a bigger pot. Great value, overall, very pleased!

I purchased this small, 2.5 quart crock pot for my college apartment, and am storing a larger one at my parents' house. The larger crock pot of the same brand is extremely useful and has never given me any trouble.

However, this smaller crock pot heats up very quickly, and will usually cook food in half the time the larger crockpot will. Of course this makes sense due to the decreased surface area of ceramic to heat, but I hadn't thought of that, and I wish I had known this before I purchased this product.

When I checked on my first overnight oatmeal in this pot after four hours of cooking (recommended cooking time: 8 hours), all of the liquid was gone. In another hour or two, it would have been burnt. Fortunately, adding more water did the trick and it was able to cook the oatmeal without further incident.

Basically, because of how quickly this pot heats up this is a good product only if you can check on it every three or four hours or so while cooking. Otherwise, purchase a larger model, especially one with a "keep warm" function.

It's terrific! Everything I expected! All the comfort foods for winter are now new recipes for me, and I bet I'll be using this every week. And since I discovered the Reynold's crockpot liners, it's even better -- I don't even have to wash it after I use it.
