Great for Making Bread June 19, 2008 Mary Mixer (San Diego, Ca USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was worried because some reviews talked of a part breaking when mixing bread, but further research showed that KitchenAid had fixed that problem. I have owned my KitchenAid for 8 months, made countless whole grain breads and I love it! Had a problem with the dough hook releasing, but called KA and they had me fix it with a drop of oil-and they were so nice. What a great company!
Super Quality June 13, 2008 C. Ried I am so pleased with this mixer. It is the third Kitchen Aide mixer I have had. I give my older ones to my children and but the next model up. They are so dependable and this one especially is exceptionally capable to handle bread making and large batches of muffins or grinding raw meat or grain. Just an excellent buy. A superior product. Kitchen Aid's service and support in case you need it is excellent and speedy.
kitchen Aid 6 Quart Mixer June 12, 2008 Lois Spangler (Blairstown, New Jersey) This mixer is an outstanding machine. You can make a large quantity of potatoes, cookie dough, bread dough, etc. Excellent! edconnectionsllc.com
well built prduct June 12, 2008 Carl Howlett (Manahawkin, NJ, USA) The mixer is very well built and has sufficient power to do a good job kneeding bread. My only complaint is the request to hand wash the tools. My feeling is that if it can't go in a wishwasher then it can't come in the house.
Bread bakers beware!! June 11, 2008 Momof4 (Cincinnati, OH United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I strongly recommend that anyone who intends to use this mixer to knead dough purchase a different brand! I owned a KitchenAid mixer for 16 years . During that time , I usually baked bread at least once a week. In recent years I often baked 2 batches of bread a week. ( I have 4 children) My old mixer was reliable and a real workhorse. Last year, when it finally died, we decided to upgrade to the " Professional model" since it has a more powerful motor and supposedly could handle 14 cups of flour. Big mistake!!! Despite following all the instructions ( such as never kneading dough above a speed 2. Also I never kneaded more than 12 cups of flour!), it seemed as if the motor was straining right from the start. Yesterday, while kneading 8 cups of flour it just stopped! What really irritates me is that I haven't done much breadmaking in the last few months. If I had done my normal amount of breadmaking it probably would have died during the warranty period, which expired 3 months ago! ( no wonder they only give a 1 year warranty!) We haven't taken this machine apart but I suppose the plastic gearbox I've read about in the other negative reviews struck again. KitchenAid is clearly living on its reputation!
