Norpro stainless steel vertical poultry roaster October 31, 2007 I. Bakowski (Canton, MI)
I purchased two of these roasters and cooked two chickens at one time. The skin came out so crispy we were knocking each other over trying to get to it. This is like having a rotisserie without all the cleanup (and cost)! The only thing I would recommend is having a thin pan on the bottom of the oven as the plates that come with this are not big enough to catch all the drippings. Otherwise, I highly, highly recommend it!
My old chicken roaster is now history! October 25, 2007 Kiwibird (Auckland, Auckland New Zealand) I should have bought one of these years ago. My old roaster was supposed to be 'non-stick' but, hah, what a joke! The coating wore off quicker than a blink. So, throwing caution and my Scottish ancestry to the winds, I purchased not one but TWO of these Norpro roasters and now I don't have to avoid washing the dishes on chicken roasting night any more!
Chicken roaster October 17, 2007 Cassie Eigenmann (Modesto, IL) Love it! Good merchandise. Reasonably priced. "Chicken every Sunday, Mamma.....ever-thing's gonna be alright"
Silly chicken joke October 17, 2007 Jordsk Once you stop laughing at how silly the chicken looks in the vertical position, you can really appreciate the convenience. It takes up less room in the oven and cooks the bird evenly without burning anything, even the wingtips. Basting is easy b/c the juices pool in the bottom. The vertical position also eliminates undercooked blood in the cavity. The fact that it holds up to 8 lbs. is great Some cautions: be sure to situate the roaster in a larger circular pan or dish as the roaster bottom may get very full (esp. with a large bird) or even overflow and be very careful when pulling the oven shelf out as there may be sloshing. Also, you'll probably have to lower the oven shelf so there's room for the chicken to stand up. Assembly needs care to get the pieces correctly set up. Cleaning takes close attention.
best summer chicken ever! July 23, 2007 Jean M. Milligan (Middleton, Wi.) get a can of beer and drink it - but save the can and fill it full of orange juice - rub the chicken with whatever spices you like and put it on the grill - it's the best and easiest chicken for summer - and the norpro stainless steel pans clean up like new
