5 out of 5 stars Worked Like a Charm   February 17, 2008

A good buy. Used for cooking beef chunks. Oil heated up well and beef cooked fast. Placed near outlet so no problem with short cord. Next time will try for dessert by heating chocolate and dipping fruit.

5 out of 5 stars Great for Chinese hot pot and Japanese shabu shabu as well.   January 23, 2008

I bought this fondue pot because I craved some chocolate fondue. I used the lowest setting for chocolate. The next day, I made some cheese fondue using the warm setting. I just want to say that this is so easy to clean since the parts of the pot itself are submersible in the sink.

A few weeks later, my parents made Chinese hot pot with it (temp at 250 or so keeps the nice bubbling for Chinese hot pot...the temperature goes above 400). It was the perfect size for a family! It's better than the pots sold at Chinese and Japanese markets because this heats up faster (I poured hot broth into the fondue pot and it was bubbling immediately after I turned it on), and this was very simple to use.

We are making Japanese shabu shabu next (same temperature as Chinese hot pot, but not spicy). No tastes stay in the pot. It washes perfectly clean.

unfortunately this product is not well designed, first of all the safety handle is poorly thought out, disconnects too easily, secondly, the product makes a nice fondue but then it starts to congeal cause the product kind of goes into warm mode.... not recommended

I just got this item on Aug 10-07 and have used it about 4 times already. The cord is completely removable which makes it very practical/easy to clean up. Thus far I've made cheese & chocolate fondue and it's worked perfectly! The cord is REALLY short but as long as you get an extension cord it's ok.
Would definitely recommend this item!

5 out of 5 stars Who needs nonstick.   July 9, 2007

I used this fondue to make a nacho cheese dip for a party. I left the heat setting on warm (was initially afraid of sticking despite everything I read), but I could have set the heat on higher because there was no sticking or uneven heating from a hot spot. The breakaway cord came in handy when a not-so-sober friend picked up the whole pot to take outside and (thankfully) didn't sweep everything off the table that was in the way of the cord. After a soapy soaking, the pot was easy to clean and I didn't have to worry about using the scouring end of a 3M sponge since there was no nonstick finish to scratch.

My friends went to the Melting Pot Restaurant and spent over $100 for a couple. This pot is DEFINITELY a great value considering I could have purchased several pots for the cost of one dinner out and we'll be having LOTS of fondue parties since this is so easy to use and clean.
