This is our second Krups FME4-14. I broke the first one...oops! and we can't fault them. I kocked the carafe off of the counter while vaccuuming, and unfortunately it broke, so when I asked my wife what she wanted to replace it, she said another the same. The store we bought it from no longer had them in stock, so I came to Amazon. Should have done that first, it was cheaper than I saw anywhere else on the internet, and it arrived well before it was expected. Thank you

I have owned many coffee pots over my 55 years of life but this one is the best. It is fast and easy to use. The company I bought it from is also tops in my book for being quick and efficient in sending my pot to me.

We had high hopes that a name brand like Krups would be a good product for us to purchase. We had a 12 cup Braun coffee maker for several years, and it still worked, but the temperature of the coffee was declining, and we decided to buy a new machine. We would have bought another Braun, but they discontinued the model we liked. So we decided to try the Krups (Model #FME-14). That was a BIG MISTAKE!!
Although we followed the directions to the letter, from the very first plain batch of water we processed through the machine, we smelled this distict "chemical smell." Once we brewed coffee in the Krups machine the chemical smell continued and even was present in the coffee itself. We kept trying the unit for about a week, but it never improved. So we exercised our return option with Amazon.com, and they readily cooperated to have the Krups machine returned for full credit
I must say that the RMA process with Amazon.com was OUTSTANDING. They even picked up the tab for the return shipping (USPS). We then bought a Cusinart (Model #DCC-1200BW12) cup coffee maker, and we have had it for several days - the Cusinart machine is wonderful, and we wish we had purchased it from the beginning. Hope that helps others looking for a new coffee maker. However, whatever you do, buy the machine through Amazon.com, their service could not be better!

Very good product.Without any doubt the best coffemaker I've ever owned. I especially like the ability to make a few cups at a time with no loss of coffee quality. Well worth the money and will buy the same again.
 Good Coffee From A Poorly Made Machine May 11, 2008

The FME4-14 brews a nice cup of coffee, as should be the case from any coffee machine backed by Krups' reputation. That's about all the compliment this machine can be given.
Problems:
The "attached" lid makes cleaning the carafe an awkward affair. It is ostensibly detachable, but the hinge feels far too flimsy to survive multiple removals.
The "auto stop" plunger on the filter holder barely works. I've spilled many cups of coffee when removing the carafe before brewing is complete.
By default, the device beeps whenever brewing is complete. Make it stop.
The whole apparatus for inserting/removing the charcoal filter is flimsy. I broke it during initial setup of the machine -- and I was being as gentle as humanly possible.
Save your money. Krups has made exceptional machines in the past, and I trust they will again one day. In the meantime, look to the competition if you need a new coffee maker anytime soon.
