1 out of 5 stars Avoid this Cool Wall model 22605, very uneven toasting.   March 30, 2008

Unlike the US-made toasters of bygone days that browned both sides equally, if this toaster is adjusted to do one side right it leaves the other side hardly toasted at all. If you set it for a longer time to get the light side done right then the other side gets burned. I don't see how it could do otherwise because if you look down into the slots at the heating elements, you can see that they are more numerous and closely spaced on the outside walls than on the inner. I don't understand how an old appliance company could do such bad engineering - I can only suppose that they don't use their own products now that they are made in China.

3 out of 5 stars Basic, cheap, but flawed   January 14, 2008

It's cheap, so, I guess you get what you pay for. Takes a long time to toast and toasts unevenly. I need to toast half-way, then pop it, then flip the bread and finish to get an even toast. Whatcha want for thirteen bucks, I guess.

4 out of 5 stars Not a bad little toaster   December 14, 2007

I really wanted to give it three stars but I couldn't fix that once I entered 4. I purchased this toaster because I wanted a bargain. So far, I'm satisfied. No malfunctions. It doesn't quite toast evenly all the time but it makes a decent piece of toast. There are no bells and whistles like different settings for bagels or anything. It's just a plain old toaster like we used when we were kids. You can select the darkness of your toast and pop it up. That's about it. Perfect for college or first toasters when you want to get something but not break your bank.

3 out of 5 stars A bit slow .   December 12, 2007

Later I found the same toaster at a large retail store for 9$ (which was a sale price ) . It is a ok toaster I only have one problem with it. It replaced a extreamly old toster which toasted much quicker. Its slow . I think the reason is the toast holes are big so they can hold a bagel and I only toast sliced bead. So all the heat rushes out .

3 out of 5 stars Picture is not correct toaster model   November 14, 2007
Margaret Foster (Palmyra, Virginia USA)
I purchased this because the picture shows the toaster I have had for the last 4 years which worked really well. But the toaster I received is different. The actual 22605 toaster is shown on Amazon under the listing "Proctor Silex Cool-Wall Toaster". It has a rounded top and does not have the three wavy lines design next to the words Proctor Silex. The one pictured here is actually model 22205 and Amazon does not sell it anymore. I returned the 22605: it was flimsier than my old one, the electric heating wires were dented, and it was hard to push the toast up manually. Felt like it would have broken quickly. Gave it three stars cause it did toast the bread and what do you expect for $12.
