5 out of 5 stars So far so good...   April 20, 2008

I stumbled across my KA cooker at a local tent sale and only paid $67, which I think was the deal of the century. I didn't even need a slow cooker, but couldn't pass up the deal. I threw a 6.5 lb. pork roast in it the next day (after reading the manual, which was EASY to navigate, and well laid out) and it turned out PERFECT. This is one bad a$$ cooker, and I am glad I bought it now. The silicone seal keeps in the steam, which really helps the cooking process. Plus, it comes right off the lid, and is easy to clean. The oval shape makes pouring liquid out of it a snap, which is one feature I love, considering the size of the unit. I am a little concerned about the crock cracking, now that I have read other reviews, so I will definitely keep that in mind.

2 out of 5 stars More Cracked Pots   April 7, 2008

I bought a Kitchen Aid Slow Cooker KSC700 mostly based on the recommendations in the Cook's Illustrated review. Despite some of the experiences from other customers, I ordered one anyway hoping Kitchen Aid had maybe address this problem. My first one cracked on the third time, the second on the first time, all within 20-45 mins of starting. As per the reviews, I was very careful not to put in anything that was too hot/cold. Kitchen Aid was happy to replace the crock liner the first time but the second time they denied this was a problem and rather begrudgingly will send another one. I was surprised at the poor quality of not only their product (we have many of their appliances), but their customer service. I will try the third crock but feel it can't be left alone for long because of the potential fire hazard.

4 out of 5 stars Great Product with One Complaint   December 29, 2007

It works awesome and cooks great but the 7qt size does not allow for the use of a liner (they only go to 6.5 qts). It takes away from the convenience. We tried cutting a smaller one to fit it but it did not work so well. Other than that it is great.

3 out of 5 stars Own many kitchen aid appliances but this went back   December 23, 2007

I own many kitchen aid appliances (including a stand mixer, blender and food processor) but I sent this back. I originally purchased it based on the Cooks Illustrated recommendation. The first time I used it, I was happy with its performance, although the extra large flared crock lip felt awkward when handling/washing...I liked how it had the lower simmer temperature (185 degrees the manual states). The second time using it however it cracked about an hour into cooking. Although I read reviews about this problem I dismissed it thinking it was simply a matter of people not being careful with temperature changes...hot to cold or cold to hot. I was VERY careful. However, I was surprised when I heard a sizzling sound and looked to see drops of liquid leaking onto the hot base. Although I know Kitchen aid has great customer service when I had to replace a different product, I was not willing to take this chance again with the bother of packaging, etc... only to possibly experience a crack again, and possibly even have a safety problem if I had a pot crack when I wasn't home. Normally I love Kitchen Aid, but not this product.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent   September 16, 2007

I had a Rival slow cooker and it always had "hot spots" that would burn the food. This is by far the best slow cooker I've had and cooks the food evenly, no "hot spots". I also love the choices of High, Low, Simmer and Buffet. The timer is also excellent, talk about the ease of cooking, doesn't get any easier than this. The quality is great, very well built and looks good on my counter also. It's expensive, but damn if it's not worth the money!!!!!!!!
