I purchased this toaster primarily for its ability to handle bagels and it's been just fine. I guess I didn't realize the outer shell was plastic when I ordered it though. This took a moment to get over, which I did. Stays nice and cool. The digital controls make this the most high tech toaster I've ever had!
 Uneven Toasting - Avoid June 19, 2008

I have owned this toaster for over a year. The toaster will burn one side of the toast, while lightly browning the other side. I can leave the browning settings at the same level and one time the toast is too dark, then the next time it is too light. It never browns each side of the bread evenly. My ancient toaster toasted 100% better than this one. Do not buy this toaster!

I purchased this toaster after reading lots of reviews on toasters. I also thought the price was reasonable. I also have other Cuisinart products and have liked all of them. This toaster overall is very nice, and toast well. It sometimes doesn't toast both sides evenly, but I haven't found a toaster that does. I love the look of it, and how easy it is to clean. I am very happy with my Cuisinart Toaster and would recommend it to anyone.

Yesterday, my husband got so angry with this practically new toaster that he promptly unplugged it and tossed it out onto the balcony, where I later found it.
This piece of junk runs hot. WAY too hot. The basket won't stay down unless you "play" with it - sometimes push it down hard and fast, others really slowly and then there are days like yesterday, when it won't stay down AT ALL. This thing is trash. In fact, not even worthy of becoming trash-art, in my opnion.
Oh yeah and if you put it on anything higher than #3 (for certain bread items such as burger buns) you may as well be throwing your items directly onto open flames because the result will be the same charred, black lump (if you're lucky).
This is the SECOND Cuisinart toaster we've had and now the second to end up in the trash for almost the exact same reasons...
I have a lot more patience than my hubby does but even I wanted to take a baseball bat to this thing. Shoddy Chinese workmanship is all I can figure.

Having tried several "Toaster Ovens" for several years, I decided to buy an authentic toaster, and am very happy I did. At last I can have a real piece of toast, bagel or English muffin. JW Lake Tahoe
