Excellent April 27, 2007 A. Mankute (CT USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this one about a month ago - we have been using it every weekend - and we all love the waffles that it makes. My daughter and I prefer the crispier ones, and my hosband loooooves the "soggier" ones. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a waffle iron.
Worked great, but then stopped working February 21, 2007 K. Strok (Mystic, CT USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I loved this waffle maker while it lasted -- about 4-5 years and used it 20-30 times during that time. But, I'm probably influenced by a great recipe (see below). I'll probably buy it again, because of the features, and I see the reviews of some other waffle makers indicate that they die after a few years too. I brush butter on the grills even though it is non-stick and discarded the first waffle (because it absorbs most of the grease). Here is a Scandinavian Sour Cream waffle recipe -- very close to the delicious waffles I enjoyed in Norway -- they are very light tasting: 4 eggs 1 cup milk (warmed to room temp or slightly above - to prevent butter from seizing) 3/4 cup melted butter 1 cup sour cream (warmed to room temperature) 1 Tablespoon Vanilla (yes, a tablespoon) 2 cups all-purpose flour 3/4 teaspoon baking powder 3/4 teaspoon baking soda 3/4 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons sugar Beat eggs until light, blend in milk. Blend in melted butter (I drizzle it into the mixture to prevent it from seizing); blend in sour cream and vanilla. In separate bowl combine dry ingredients and add to liquid mixture (I sift it in to breakup lumps). Stir until large lumps disappear. Use a scant 1/4 cup of batter on the iron (a soup ladle works great), on about the 3-1/2 crispy outside setting. Serve with syrup or jam. In Norway they serve them with strawberry preserves and sour cream. A variation adds 1 teaspoon ground cardamom to the batter.
The best waffle Iron February 2, 2007 Merlin Brinckman (Kansas, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this waffle iron for my daughter and son. They both absolutely love the waffles this iron produces. I enjoyed eating waffles at their homes so much, I purchased one for my own home. My wife likes waffles fixed at the level of 3, whereas I enjoy my waffles browner at level 5. Some people enjoy the small hearts torn apart and dipping into syrup rather than pouring syrup onto the waffle on a plate. However you like waffles, this product produces the best. Makes a good wedding present for new brides or a special breakfast for your wife and family.
makes them fast January 16, 2007 M. Deibel (Orange County, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It is fast so everyone can enjoy at the same time. Loved the beep so you know it's done.
Short Life Span June 19, 2006 L. McCullum (Oregon) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have had this waffle maker about 3 years and have used it about 20-30 times. It makes perfect waffles when you decide on desired doneness setting. Plus the heart shape is very pretty. I'd give this appliance 5 stars, but.... It just died on me in the middle of making a batch of waffles. No thermostat, no lights, no nothing. Up until that point I was extremely satisfied with the product. Then after reading the different reviews it seem this is par for the course with this brand and model. As much as I loved it, I won't be purchasing it again. Too bad the company just doesn't re-do the electrical design, then I could say that this is a perfect waffle maker.
