Amazon.com Review
A handy workhorse for homes where tea is a staple, this 4.0-liter Micom pot from Zojirushi boils water then keeps it hot. Equipped with a handy electric dispenser, the unit requires no pouring and makes it easy to fill mug after mug or add a quick shot of hot water to a bowl of oatmeal or ramen. A micro-computerized heating system monitors water temperature precisely and includes a re-boil mode and three keep-warm settings of 175, 195, and 208 degrees F. In addition, a dechlorinating mode helps reduce chlorine and odors, while a descaling mode cleans the interior pot. The unit also has a timer so you can program it to have water hot on your schedule.

The pot's control touchpad is cleanly laid out, with satisfying buttons, function lights, and a digital display that shows present water temperature, temperature setting, and remaining time. An automatic lock helps keep fingers safe, and an automatic safety device cuts power to prevent overheating. Other helpful details include a wrap-around water level gauge, a 360-degree swivel base, a nonstick interior, a removable power cord, and a basket-style handle to simplify transport. The pot is no speed demon, taking about 35 minutes to boil 4.0 liters, but its convenience makes up for the initial time investment. Zojirushi also makes the pot in 2.2-liter and 3.0-liter versions. --Emily Bedard

From the Manufacturer

What Makes the Panorama Window Micom Electric Dispensing Pot Special?

Unlike a kettle you heat up on the stove or an electric kettle that boils and shuts off, the Panorama Window Micom Electric Dispensing Pot boils water without getting hot on the outside and keeps the water hot as long as it's plugged in. It's safe, convenient, and once you have one, you will never live without one. The Panorama Window water level gauge, multiple temperature settings, and electric dispensing makes this electric dispensing pot extra special and convenient.

Hot Water, All Day Long

An electric dispensing pot is a kitchen appliance that keeps water at a constant hot temperature for hot drinks and other culinary uses. You simply fill the pot with water and plug it in. It boils the water and keeps it at a set temperature all day long.

Multiple Temperature Settings

The Panorama Window Micom Electric Dispensing Pot has three keep warm temperatures: 175 F, 195 F, and 208 F. The lower temperatures are perfect for brewing green tea, and the almost-boiling 208 F can be used to make instant coffee, instant noodles, oatmeal, blanching vegetables, or anything that uses hot water. Additionally, the pot will reboil to 212 F anytime you hit the Reboil button.

One-Touch Dispensing

The Panorama Window Micom Electric Dispensing Pot features one-touch electric dispensing, so you can pour hot water with a touch of a finger. To make it more convenient, it has a swivel base to turn smoothly.

Check the Temperature

The Panorama Window Micom Electric Dispensing Pot has a large LCD display that shows actual water temperature at all times (in 10 F increments), so you can check the temperature of the water at-a-glance.
Easy-to-Read Panorama Window

The large water level gauge makes it easy to check how much water you have left. And just in case the water runs out, it has a safety feature that will automatically shut the unit off to prevent overheating.

Safety is Always Important

With an electric dispensing pot, you don't need to worry about that kettle boiling on the stove. It's all electric. And not only does the Panorama Window Micom Electric Dispensing Pot automatically shut off when there is no water left, it also keeps the dispense button locked until the Unlock button is pressed, just to make sure that hot water isn't dispensed accidentally.

Easy-to-Clean

All Zojirushi electric dispensing pots feature a descaling and dechlorinate mode to keep the pot sparkling clean. Not only is the interior nonstick coated for easy cleaning, but it is also easy to clean because the opening is wide and the lid is removable. Any lime scale build-up is removed with no effort with a descaling cleaner.

Zojirushi, Quality & Innovation

For nearly a century, Zojirushi (pronounced zoh-gee-ROO-shee) has established itself as a company that uses cutting edge technology to bring comfort, ease, vitality, and affluence into the lives of its customers worldwide. 4 out of 5 stars Zojirushi review   May 11, 2008

This is a great product. The water comes out smoothly and is very hot.

The reason I give it 4 starts instead of 5 is that unfortunately, the cord is attached by a magnet to the electric pot itself and very easily becomes accidently unattached if the pot has been moved slightly or something has been put down near the cord. We've had the experience several times of finding that this has happened and thus the water is no longer hot. Although the magnet makes it easy to join the cord to the pot, it should really be redesigned so that it can't come out so easily.

5 out of 5 stars The Neatest Kitchen Gadget I own!   April 11, 2008
N. Dawson (Osceola, AR)
I love this thing! I have only had it about a month so I can't offer an opinion on durability but it does exactly what I want it to do. It is simple to operate and the water level window and digital display are easy to see. I initially decided to buy the 3.0 liter model. That sounds like a lot of water but it really isn't. The 4.0 liter was a better buy at the time & I'm glad I bought it. It is not so large that it looks out of place on my counter & I don't have to refill it as often. You can not set it to turn on at a specified time as with a programmable coffee pot. It can only be set to turn on 7 hours from the current time. I thought this might be a sticking point but it is not an issue for me. If I set it at bed time I normally sleep at least 7 hours so I have hot water when I get up. It does take 20+ minutes to heat up initially but I'm usually not in that much of a hurry for hot water. The fact that it has 3 temperature settings is great for tea drinkers. I use the highest setting for black teas & my coffee press. Later in the evening if I switch to green or herbal teas I set it at one of the lower temperatures. On weekends I leave it on all day long. I did read recently that you should not reboil water for making tea. Always start with fresh water. Apparently, reboiling water affects it in a way that alters the taste of tea made with it...Oh well, I am not sensitive enough to notice the difference so I'll continue to use my favorite kitchen gadget!

5 out of 5 stars LOVE this!   March 2, 2008

I have had my Zojirushi a little more than a month and I adore it. It is perfect for my teas - they have never tasted better. It keeps the temperature great - one reviewer complained about that and the issue is really that the tea can cool slightly on the way out to your cup (the manual even mentions this and says that to prevent it, run a cup of water through first and use the second cup on your tea/soup/whatever as the second cup with be closer to the internal temp - I use that first cup to warm my tea cup or pot).
This Zojurushi is light, even when filled with water it is easy enough to lift with the handle, turns smoothly and is very easy to wipe clean. The timer is wonderful - you can set it for it to be either 208 or 195 in 7 hours. I wish the timer could be set for 175 but at least it doesn't take too long to cool for 195 to 175.
This appliance now ranks as one of my top three favorite kitchen appliance, right up there with my Tiger rice maker and my Kitchen Aid stand mixer.

We use this product at work in our Coffee Room. To overcome the 7 hours timer installed in the pot, we just don't use it and use an external
timer bought from Home Depot.

5 out of 5 stars A Tea Lovers Dream!   February 11, 2008

After reviewing all the different electric dispensing pot, I decided on the Zojirushi. I have owned Zojirushi in the past and it has been a wonderful product. Once again I can say that I am impressed with the quality and ease of use. I use it multiple times a day and bought my best friend one for her birthday. We use it for mostly tea but my family use it to make oatmeal or hot chocolate too. The price at Amazon was right and I would buy again. Just watch the amazon discount. I purchased it for 25% off, when I went back to order my friend a few days later the price went up. Now today it is back to 25% off again. Hope this helps in your decision.
