great value and size! July 15, 2008 S. Powell (Palm Springs, CA, USA) Great value and size for the money. Great for condo and apartment living. I'd wish for some kind of lid to assist in cooking evenly, but I can't complain! It's exactly what I wanted and I'd recommend this to anyone looking for an electric grill. No need to spend much more money!
I love this grill July 12, 2008 Mario E. Sanchez This grill is light, large enough, easy to clean and works great. Set it at 350F, wait 10 minutes and grill your favorite meats immediately. I ordered it with the free shipping option on a Monday and I received it by Friday. I'm extremely pleased with this product.
a great grill indoor or outdoor July 9, 2008 D. Rambow (Redmond, WA United States) I bought this grill last winter hoping for an alternative to propane grilling outside in the rain. I used the Sanyo a few times indoors, it worked great, was smokeless with water in the tray, but was a little large for my kitchen counter. Then I thought about using it with my RV for outside use. I didn't want to lug around a charcole grill and supplies, or a little propane grill and tank either. So my routine is to set up the Sanyo grill outside, I line the water tray with aluminum foil, plus a flap of foil that goes up the back and flips to the front, for a cooking cover over the food. Grilling is more of an art anyway, so I didn't worry about whether the actual temperature settings were accurate. I turn on the grill to full heat, and it heats quickly(3-4 minutes), I pop on the hamburgers, chicken, ribs, or whatever, let them sear a little on both sides, then turn the heat down to a mid range setting to let things finish cooking a little more slowly. Everything cooks nearly as fast as on a regular propane grill without the burning and flames! If needed again later for the latecomer to the picnic, it heats up quickly for that last hotdog. For clean-up, I soak a couple of paper towels with water, drape them over the grill surface, and turn it up to high again. In a couple of minutes when the steam is rising, I turn off the heat, wipe the grill with the papertowels, and grill is clean. For such an inexpensive grill, it works incredibly well, . I have ordered Sanyo's mini-grill that should fit in my kitchen a little better, and expect the same great performance.
Great Option July 7, 2008 Notmy Realname (USA) This will not replace a good quality gas or charcoal grill, but I can not imagine anyone buying this would think that it would. Our current condo does not have a patio or a deck so this was a great option that we use several times a week. Oiling the surface with grape seed oil before putting on any meat keeps it from sticking. You do have to move things around a bit as there are some cold spots over some of the seams. I have cooked everything from vegetables to beef to fish to lamb and all work equally as well. It heats up about as fast as it takes a gas grill to get hot and ready to use. Moving the water pan can be a pain if you do not think ahead and have the grill near a sink or place to dump the water. I would highly recommend this as an option if you don't have a place for an outdoor grill.
Awesome!! July 2, 2008 Amy (Phoenix, Az) In Az where we live its usually too hot to go out and grill, at least for me, so I ordered this grill thinking it would be the next best thing. First I was surprised at how large it was, you can fix 6-8 hamburgers on it, 4-6 steaks, or whatever, its huge. It does not smoke up the house. Its just perfect, and I love it!! I use it almost every other night since I got it. I do not have to stand out in the heat, to enjoy my grilled food now. The clean up is a bit more difficult because you do have to hand wash the grill, with an outside one, you do not, but to enjoy the fine grilled food we are having it is well worth it. If your looking for a grill for the inside this is the one. Remember it is large though, and finding a spot to store it away may be an issue, but I leave it on the counter, so that has not been an issue yet.
