5 out of 5 stars Great steamers for 1 (maybe 2)!   May 6, 2008

I too love these microwavable steamers. (Would definitely give as a gift, too.) Resulted in my eating many more veggies than ever in my life. Wonderful alternative to the disposable steam bags for folks wanting a fast way to fix healthy veggies. (Loved the convenience of the bags; quickly learned to hate the waste.) Only negative is that there are no instructions included, but can easily figure it out. I use the middle-size steamer once or twice daily - steaming frozen veggies (broccoli or brussel sprouts for 1) in 4 minutes, adding no or little extra water since frozen food has plenty of water already. I use the larger one for fresh asparagus (cut asparagus in half, add a few tablespoons of water below tray). Larger one would be good size for veggies for 2. Take the holed tray out of any dish and microwave beans or soups for 1. Just remember to keep the steam hole open in the microwave. The super convenience definitely helps me stick to a diet that includes lots of delicious veggies. Space above removable holed steam tray is 1.5" (with an additional 2/8" in lid) - plenty of room.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Steamers!   August 28, 2007

I LOVE these steamers. They are great. The packaging it comes in doesn't say anything about being for microwave steaming but open it up and you'll see that each has a specially sized little plate thingy with holes that sit inside container (about 1/4 inch above the bottom of it) and the semi-translucent top has an adjustable hole for letting no steam out or some steam out. They're perfectly sized for taking one to work, another for home, etc. Small enough for any microwave and big enough to put in tons of veggies. No instructions come in the package but it's pretty self-explanatory.

3 out of 5 stars Nice, but small.   September 24, 2005

These are very nice microwaveable containers, with steamer inserts so you can put water in the bottom and steam vegetables, fish, etc. They work great, they look great. The con for me is, they are really small, and there is only 8 oz difference in each size. Although they are 24, 32 and 40 oz dishes, that's the amount of WATER you can poor in. Not the amount of food you can actually cook. The large one MIGHT fit 2 small fish filets at most. A better way to imagine what you are going to receive when you buy these, is to get out your ruler and see how big 5", 6" and 7" containers are. They are about 1 3/4" deep. With the steamer insert, you have a little over 1" space for your food. If you are cooking for one person, these are OK. And even then, you'll probably never use the medium or small containers.
