Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The bread knife is handy for slicing bread, of course, but also for slicing through croissants, cakes, and soft-fleshed tough-skinned fruits and vegetables such as citrus and tomatoes. R. H. Forschner is a division of Swiss Army Brands, Inc, renowned for the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife. These knives are specially ground and tempered so that they can be resharpened over and over again, keeping a sharp edge throughout their lifetime. State of the art technology blended with old world craftsmanship produce cutting instruments of excellent quality, at reasonable prices. Forschner Victorinox Fibrox knives have earned high marks in a well-known cooking magazine which stringently tests kitchen products.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent bread knife   September 3, 2008

I, too, ordered this knife, as well as the paring knife and chef's knife, based on the review in Cook's Illustrated. It's light-weight, but extremely sharp and makes cutting home-made bread a breeze. It's also excellent for cutting tomatoes, much better than a chef's knife. The price is right, too, a real bargain.

I had recently acquired a taste for buying and eating extremely large loafs of bread from the local Andronicos and was in desparate need for a bread knife.

This knife has exceeded my wildest imaginations, bought it based on all the rave reviews lauding the Forschner brand of knives.
I feel it certainly lives up to the hype.

Over the years I have had several bread knives. This one is by far the best. Shape, sturdy, flexible and well balanced are words best used to describe. Like other reviewers here, I must admit that I use mine for stuff other than bread even though I know I should not. I do have guilt feelings about this and I always apologize to the knife after misusing it like that, but I just cannot seem to help myself. If I cut meat, especially chicken, I do scrub and scald it well before I use it on bread.
This knife can handle the thickest and toughest crust and does not squish the bread down like so many knives do. I have the large knife even though I am a small girl, but have no problems in this area. I love the way this knife is curved, it not only works well, but looks good.

5 out of 5 stars Add me to the rest of the happy people.....   August 12, 2008

I won't write a lengthy review here because there are so many good ones that pretty much cover how great this knife really is!! It is an FANTASTIC value and I LOVE THIS KNIFE!! The quality is outstanding, and it is much larger than most serrated knives that I've come across, but takes less work to get the job done.
What a great gift it would make.

Ordered this knife based on the reviews. It is a superb knife in every aspect - couldn't be more pleased. Am a Sr. Citizen with many "cooking" years of experience. Also, knife was delivered promptly.
