2 out of 5 stars Spils water, burns rice in the bottom   May 10, 2008
Ramesh Kothandan (USA)
was expecting panasonic to be a leading brand in rice cookers
but kinda dissappointed with this product. the glass cover stays
on top with gap inbetween so when water boils it get spilt all
around also rice get burned when steaming veggies.

convincing factor: cooks rice really quick

1 out of 5 stars Terrible!   August 22, 2007

Every time I've tried to cook rice in this thing, it boils over several times, makes a huge mess on the counter, and makes poor rice. I've only tried this with standard white rice, but it's always a little crunchy, and the boiling over is ridiculous. I tried every troubleshooting suggestion in the instruction manual, but nothing worked. Now I'm saving up for a Zojirushi.

1 out of 5 stars Doesn't work with brown rice   March 4, 2007

I have tried 4 times to cook brown rice. I feel like Goldilocks; too crunchy, a little crunchy & all mush. When I increased the amount of water, there was a very starchy mess leaking all over my countertop. Not what I expected at all. I haven't tried white rice. Perhaps that will work, but not the reason I purchased this cooker. As soon as I locate the receipt, it is being returned.

5 out of 5 stars Great rice cooker   February 5, 2007

I had used a Panasonic rice cooker that is similar to this one. It worked great for nearly 10 years and finally the non-sticky layer was worn out, so I bought this SR-G18FG 10 Cup Rice Cooker/Steamer. It works great so far just as I'd expect. I would definitely recommend this one to others.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent so far...   January 10, 2007

I am very pleased with this purchase. First of all, the non stick surface is safe, healthy, and works excellently! When I cooked my first batch of rice with this cooker I was surprised that the manual calls for a 1 to 1 ratio of water to rice. With my previous experience I thought that this was absurd and that the rice would not be cooked thouroughly. I followed the instructions and the rice was cooked to perfection! I have not used the cooker for anything else besides rice, but so far I am very pleased! It is not only much safer to the health (i.e. no aluminum in contact with the food) but the clean up is much much easier!!!
